Can anything be done to the front/headlights?

I love my 08 Versys in every way - except - I think it looks kinda goofy from the front. I don't like the headlight design.

Can anything be done in a cheap/reasonable way to make it look less retro and more modern/aggressive around the headlights? I love how these bikes look around the headlights: 2010 Versys(!), Ducati Hypermotard, 2010 multistrada, Kawa Z-1000... you get the idea.

I have no experience of modifications of any kind, so please excuse me if it's a stupid or obvious question.

Thanks!!

If you beleive all headlights must be round than you need to change your mind set.
Didn't say that at all. Just saying I don't like the design of the headlight area.
Thanks for the input everyone - I guess the short answer to my question is "No, there's no easy way to change that" :)

Thanks!

Check out threads under 'Naked Versys' and 'Naked Versys Pics' to get an idea on what others have done, JD Rocks has a big writeup on his bike transformation posted here http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5480

I have however seen a Dual Headlight setup running the standard Versys fairing with just a flat Plate mounted where the light is currently and 2 holes for the lights to poke out. it looked a bit cheap imho tho.

...I think with enough time and alcohol one of us here one of us here on the forums could come up with a funky design ...to do it on the cheap is another thing.

Hmm.. i have an idea ...now where's my Pony Keg.

I love Versys not for the way she looks...

I love Versys because of her functionality...

I love Versys Because of her character...

Most importantly, I love her for her personality.... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Miscellaneous ramblings on a Tuesday mornin'.....

At first I would have said ; "THEN I GUESS YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG BIKE"!;)J/K.
After all, aesthetics are part of the attraction and we are first and foremost, 'creatures of sight'.
But that would have been rude of me.

In the end.... The "V" does so many things right, many folk can over come there aversion to it's appearance. I guess that says a lot for the bike as a whole.
For me, the "V" is drop dead gorgeous. (headlamp included). No cookie cutter looks here, thank goodness! Love the long 'legs' and she's got... 'strong shoulders'.
IMHO the "V" is a cutting edge beautiful...just like the Citroen DS was way back in 1955.
State of the art (in all ways) without breaking the bank.

Besides...I never cared for that sorta 'California girl' generic homolgated beauty. be it my toys or my women.(BORING..and a dime a dozen).
I prefer Uniquely beautiful with character and spark... Like my taste in women..."Looks" with a kinda sense of where she came from...and where her heritage lies or that there's something more underneath; more than meets the eye.( and I gotta winner in that department i don't mind telling you).

The "V" is all that....Inside and out.

OK, I'll shut up now.

Another thing about Versys...

People that don't ride bike think Versys is very attractive... I was asked by many non-rider about Versys... They always say it's a really nice looking bike...

Most motorcyclist will look at Versys and then look away because it is not "Sport Bike" or "Harley Cruiser type"... They probably think it is a "uncool" bike!!!

Remember this country (USA), only sportbike and cruiser are the 2 best selling type of bikes... Kind of amaze me... Including all my riding friends... None of them will never buy anything except a sportbike or cruiser... Some even say it's ugly or what ever...

I love my ride and frankly, I don't give a damn what they say ... :D:D:D:D:D:D

I haven't noticed the vibrations yet, but that is probably next. I have only had it up to 50 here in town today. If it does, I have some black foam washers that should stop any noises. I can't see your avatar pic well enough to tell, have you done the same? I think this mod would be better still on a black because it would be an easy match with less seam shadow. BTW, if anybody is painting red, I had mine custom matched and it was Mazda 1990 paint.

its almost like this ,but in other order,1st the oem, then the aftermarket shield.
i like it and i will keep it that way,you can feel the difference in high speeds.the small "hole" above the light that was a big air passage (toward my face...) now is blocked and the buffeting has significantly reduced.with plastic spacers you wont feel any vibrations,in high speeds air pressure forces can become pretty strong so use thicker nuts/axles and good plastic spacers to have a reliable -solid overall package.

i'm surprised no one has commented on the most surprising part of this most shocking post:

... I think it looks kinda goofy from the front. I don't like the headlight design... make it look less retro and more modern...
retro??? really??? i can see "goofy" easily enough. i can understand calling it strange, weird, funny, dorky or just plain ugly. i've surely directed a few of those at versyses, myself. but retro???

no sir, the versys is anything but retro. you are out of line and are required to apologize to your steed at once. :thanx:

it will vibe very much, you dont wanna hurt the givi aftermarket.you could make some extension brackets and move it lower.the 2 screens mod is a good mod but needs good tightening and attention in detail.report back if you meet any problems.
ps. sorry for the thread hijack:guilty:

The headlight/tank and cowling is one of the things that caught my attention about the versys. Reminds me of

Fail!

You know, nothing is perfect. For $20,000 you can buy a Ducati Multistrada S, and the front end looks like a bird. But it's an awesome adventure tourer.

Agree, light is not bad for a bike compare to my bikes before. Adding HID... WOW... :D:D:D
