Long time rider (since I was a teen - now 54) and just picked up a new 2022 -x 300. $4999 out the door didn't seem to bad for a leftover. My son just last week picked up a klx300 and wanted to do a little adventure riding with him. His bike has a really tiny tank so the thought was the Versys would be a great support vehicle to carry extra fuel, tent, etc.

Only about 12 miles on the bike so far but am really loving it. Windscreen is a bit short so I'll probably change that out quickly. Trying to decide between hard or soft bags. I'm leaning toward soft for capacity and flexibility. I'll be reading up and bugging everyone for a bit but appreciate that there is a place to hangout and discuss.

Man, those Givi E-21 cases are SO tempting! But I already have a set of Givi E-22 cases, along with a nice pair of Nelson Rigg soft bags, so I really shouldn't spend the money...

FWIW, I had a set of those E-21's on my old 2006 Kawasaki EX500, for most of my ownership, then also used those same cases on my Suzuki V-Strom 650 for several years afterward. They are made out of a heavier, more flexible (and durable) plastic than the current E-22 cases. I had several tip-overs on both sides, on both bikes, and the E-21 cases only suffered some cosmetic scuffing on the lower corners.

The E-22's seem to be more brittle. I misjudged a narrow opening between two barricades, on the V-Strom and just clipped the front edge of the right side case; it cracked, although I was able to repair it with some epoxy and duct tape. The slight bit of added capacity and molded-in handles are a little nicer, especially if your riding two-up, but those E-21 cases are still a very good (and economical!) choice.

Mine came with the standard Kawasaki 'semi rigid' luggage. It's OK if you need something narrow for threading through traffic, but there's many better options.

If it hadn't come complete with luggage ... I'd have gone for soft luggage with a frame.

Super light handling machines we have here. With gas hovering near $5/gal, I've made it my daily driver. Lots of mods available to make it fit YOU. Good luck!

Thanks for the pic! I have been eyeing those very bags at the local Cycle Gear. Are you also using a large Sedici top bag? They they secure well to the bike if you had to walk away for a bit (eating in a restaurant or running into a store)? Main concern would be someone just lifting off the entire set of bags and walking away with them. I suppose the straps can be run under the locked seat?

They they secure well to the bike if you had to walk away for a bit (eating in a restaurant or running into a store)? Main concern would be someone just lifting off the entire set of bags and walking away with them. I suppose the straps can be run under the locked seat?

I also have a set of lockable hard cases. The soft luggage is for BDR type rides, which is most of what I do. I purchased the hard cases because @JT in GA identified a crazy good deal on them. You can never have enough storage options.

@Sock Puppet, I have the same Nelson Rigg soft bags, but haven't ridden anywhere with them yet. Do you use those backers, when you have yours on? Also, do you use the internal stiffeners all the time, with those?
