You've never heard of or seen a carby (or throttle cable) stick open?

 

I have once but that carb was a slider carb

 

My Civic is 9 years old and "Drive By Wire" never had a problem one from it. Even older was a Pierce Arrow Fire Engine from the late 1990s that was a "D-Deck" motor and it was drive by wire and ran great.

 

I remember coming across a high school classmate in the late '70s who wrecked because of a stuck throttle. Just pull in the damn clutch lever and hit the kill switch

 

I've always felt that IF you have a choice - a LOW-SIDE is better than a HIGH-SIDE - but watching Stoner...

...he STARTED w/ a low-side, then it became a high-side, etc, etc....

Yeah but what speed was he doing? More than the majority have ever done!

 

I had a 'stuck throttle' event once on my 1972 Yamaha XS 650S. Got me out of a speeding ticket.
