I've been researching different bags for my V650 and had decided on Givi Trekker Alaska 36LT Side Cases in black. I liked the looks and features. Ordered from Motostorm.it on May 10. Waited and waited for them to ship... contacted them and they said they were supposed to get them on May 30. Fine, I'll wait. May 30 came and went, asked a couple of times for an update and nothing. Finally noticed that the website said they were unavailable, so I am cancelling the order. Now I'm looking at the Givi GRT709 soft sided cases which "appear" to be in stock at Motostorm. They are supposedly designed for the ADV/off road bike and I can find nothing on my research of anyone with a V650 having them. I really only need a case to keep my rain suit and maybe a few other items. So in a bit of a quandary on what to get. I don't really want the OEM cases because of the shape and the construction. Would prefer aluminum or soft. So still looking.

The tail bag hard "trunk" is a very handy item. Personally I am not a big fan of the look of a box up high on the back, but I use it all the time anyway.

The GIVI branded unit is the exact same as the Kawi but a lot cheaper.

If you need side luggage, I have been quite happy with the Givi Outback Trekker 37l. It is a lot of capacity, so perhaps more than you really need. ?

SW-Motech Trax Ion aluminum panniers on my 2015 are similar to the Givi Trekker Alaska cases.

Have you considered the Kappa K-Venture version? I have the raw aluminum version side cases and top case on my bike for several years and have nothing but good things to say about them. A little more than the Alaska version, but in stock...

Can either of you who have the hard aluminum cases post a picture of where/how the rack that holds them mounts to the bike? (preferably without the cases installed for better visual)
I bought some Tusk medium panniers for my 2020 and I am going to have to fabricate a mounting rack for them. No sense in reinventing the wheel if someone else already figured out the best mounting points.

I TOO am interested in those pics!

The TUSKs on my '08 beat hell out of the LT bags on my '15!!!

I have purchased the GIVI Alaska Trekker panniers for my 2020 V650 but am having trouble getting them mounted. Everything lines up OK but the pannier will not engage the locking tab on the bracket. Its like the "tab" on the bracket is too long which doesn't allow it to go into the slot on the pannier far enough to engage the locking mechanism. I've tried slamming it and also trying to push it to engage but so far no dice. I don't really want to go mucking around with the rubber locking tab on the bracket until I do some more research. Since these panniers are so new I don't have high hopes of finding anyone else who has tried them yet.

Best solution is to contact GIVI and tell them this what you say here to us.

I try now to research on internet and it should fit if you have this side mounts:
PL4114,
but if you can't mount them best solution is to ask GIVI. Maybe are here some mechanical problem.

You can see on this link all cases which fit to this PL4114, and Alaska trekker are also here:

Turns out the Alaska Trekker has a device called a "HolditEasy" system which grabs the pannier as you are removing it to keep it from falling. It could also be used to allow the pannier to lean out a bit from the bike if you had a large top case that prevented you from opening the pannier. You would have to watch the video to see it... Anyway, I was trying to see what might be keeping the pannier from engaging the latch, and it looked like that HolditEasy device might be the culprit. I removed it and the pannier went on just fine. So, I'm leaving that "system" off for the time being and probably permanently. So now both panniers are attached and all is well. If I do get a top case sometime in the future I might have to address the issue and see if I can figure out a way to make it work.

I see on pictures that Alaska trekker have something to hold pannier but i didn't know for what is that exactly.
But most important is that you solve problem, and now you can enjoy in motorbike and brand new panniers
