New layout to the forum

This forum was since the first 2007 Versy, just that, then along came the V1000, heard rumors , could it be, BAM next thing we got V1000 joining the forum in droves, a sub forum was introduced, never was fond of that approach, then came along the X300, what has been done is produce 3 separate forums with the same basic layout as the 650, this allows you to search a topic in the sub forum, instead of getting searches from all the forums. More to come and something like a construction site, it takes time, should all be in place and complete shortly.
So enjoy.

FYI 5 pages of posts have been moved to the new 650 General discussions. Mass moving of the entire forum will be left to KawiMan
weljo2001, quexpress and motorboy like this.

Thanks for your efforts to improve the forum- I know that mods do a lot of work to keep forums moving like a well maintained Versys.

Also, big thanks for the install of the Thermo Bob on my V. With the cooler weather coming I can be confident that the engine is running at the correct temperature.
I'm glad that I decided to take my time cleaning the filthy exposed innards before replacing the plastic, as I discovered a broken bolt on the left side upper engine mounting plate.

The end of the bolt was protruding out the rear of the plate, so I applied some Liquid Wrench and simply screwed it clockwise using needle nose vice-grips until it came out. I found a spare 8x20 flanged bolt in my supply cabinet last night and will install it today. I will need to loosen the large bolt that screws into the engine and the upper plate mounting bolt in order to properly align the three holes, and then re-torque the fasteners. I used blue Loctite on the bolts.

The DPO (dreaded previous owner) had cobbled a set of highway pegs using the mounting bracket as a base. I suspect that the longer bolts he used were of inadequate hardness and caused the failure. I removed the pegs when I first purchased the V as they were too high and not useful at all.
