where are all the hard cases for 2013 V650?

Hey all, first post here so apologies if this is the wrong place. I've got a 2013 V650 and I've been pulling my hair out trying to find some hard cases for the thing. I have the OEM top case but it's simply not enough storage, and I can't wear a backpack for long rides because of a jacked up left shoulder. I've got some soft bags but they're fiddly to mount and unmount, and they flop around when leaned over. So I really want hard cases with a solid quick release mechanism. All the major brands like Shad and Givi have long since discontinued their kits for the 2nd Gen, and I can't even find any used. Anyone have an idea? I've been scouring the web and can't find anything. Located in the USA would be preferable, but at this rate I'll pay for international shipping if it's the only option. I'm at the point where I'm thinking maybe I should just learn to weld just so I can cannibalize a kit for a different bike entirely.

EDIT: I've decided to compromise and order the Givi trekker top case and necessary hardware, which is still in stock and gives me more to work with the the OEM case. I have made a new thread under the want to buy section in case anybody decides to sell the side case hardware I originally wanted.

Not sure but it may be available , you need more posts !!

Correction - For Sale has been updated - Looks like they are gone . Still @jdrocks would possibly have a line on the hardware.

That's exactly what I need, assuming it's still available over half a year later. And I can't reply to the thread as a new user (I get it, anti spam and all that).

I also found this brand new, in the UK, but for a good chunk of what my bike cost it'd be a tough pill to swallow...

You can reply, just jump in and reply on three other threads and you meet the 5x5 rule.

Another low buck alternative, sounds like you have a tubular rack on your bike for soft bags. Two Harbor Freight Apache cases and a $99 mount kit like this can work.
I don't think I'm understanding from the pictures how these are supposed to work
😅 So that metal plates would get bolted into the tubing that's already there for the top box, and the 4 round pieces are to modify any rectangular case into your own pannier? I wish they had some pictures of what it looked like installed...

If everything else fails, because like you mentioned international shipping to USA won't be cheap, there's this german company that ships worldwide...

Motea - Gen 2 Versys 650 sidecases search

BTW, welcome aboard (y)

Ride safe ✌
Hmm none of these options are really doing it for me style wise. Maybe I'm just being too picky for someone with an old bike and a small budget haha.

Anyway thanks for the suggestions everybody. Seems like a great community you've got here.

I've been looking on eBay (USA) and can't find anything used. The new options are all for the 1st or 3rd gens except a couple that I think are mislabeled, cross referencing the actual part number it turns out they're for a different model.

This is another option for a gen 2. There are several different bags that attach to the mount.

I am going to point out, my 2015, uses the top box mount and one lower side mount. One thing that stands out, the mounting supports both sides through a included cross bar. Overall, you might need to fabricate a single left and right side adapter plate.

Help. I ordered the SWM rack for my bike yesterday and just got an email from accessory international today saying they actually don't have it and need to cancel my order. Looks like I'll be stuck with soft bags for now. Only the H&B Lock It mount is available and the hardware + two cases would run me about $1500 which is more than I can spend right now.

twisted throttle shows stock, you also need either a M5 or M5M or M7

I would still look at using MK-3 mounting and modifying it. If you are willing, I can take some close up photos and measurements and you can then compare them on your bike. The basic mounting fits cases made since 2007, it is the fastening to the bike that changed.

Another option would I guess be to get an aftermarket top case that's larger than the OEM one (which just about holds my helmet and nothing else, plus the latching mechanism is really fiddly and poorly designed). It seems the Givi top racks for the second gen are still in stock in a few places, and if any side racks happen to come up for sale they can be added on later. This might not be as much storage as I'd like, but it'll be an improvement.

EDIT: This is what I'm going to go with as the fastest and most painless option. Twisted Throttle claims to have all the parts in stock for my bike to use the 52L Trekker case, which holds 2 helmets. That's probably enough for my daily commute and I can add the side case rack if/when I happen to find them.

Good choice. Let me say, they are absolutely awesome. I purchased all my cases from them all at the same time, got a discount by doing so. My Denali lights, my Denali horn, and both the cramp buster and aluminum Go-Cruse, all came from them. Also my motorcycle boots and jacket. Unfortunately, they are online in Canada only, they had a store and the lease was coming up, the owner thought he could just double the rent, since they were doing so good. Problem with that was that something like 85% of their business was online. Goodby mister greedy!

I also have the V56 top case

I can get one helmet in, not 2.

The one I bought was the TRK52 which despite a smaller number in liters, the product description and reviews do claim 2 helmets. But I don't often need 2 actual helmets anyway, just more space in general than the OEM case which is only 30 liters and basically the exact shape to fit one helmet and nothing more unless you nest it inside where your head goes.

Everything arrived from Twisted Throttle today and a dentist appointment gave me an excuse to clock out early, so I had some daylight left to install it. Looking pretty good! The Trekker 52 juuuuuust about fits both my helmets (or more importantly, an equivalent volume of my other crap). It's a huge improvement over the OEM case. I'd still like to add the side cases if I could ever track down the racks, but this ought to be enough for the daily commute. Thanks everybody, this is the end of the story for now.
