I've been reading the threads on front and back tooth size and I want to know what the difference is in a back lower or higher tooth size or front lower or higher tooth size, I also want to know how it effects the gearing, is a rear lower tooth size mean more time in first and less in the upper gear? I would really love to know. sounds like something I would love to to so I could get the best performance from my V.

basic concepts:

- adding/subtracting a tooth has a larger percentage effect on the front, since it only has 15 teeth, compared to the back, which has 46 teeth... larger percentage change

- as the sprockets get closer to each other in size, gearing gets taller (bigger front or smaller in back)

- taller gearing reduces acceleration, reduces rpm at a given speed, increases gas mileage... think about starting in 2nd or cruising in "7th" gear... these effects may or may not be noticeable, depending on the degree of the change.... opposite effects for lower gearing, obviously.
