I was taking a look at the new 2011 product launch site:

A 300 horse power jet ski? SH!T HOUSE MOUSE!

That alone prompted me to ask:
How many of you would dump your 650 versys for a 1200 versys (assuming that Kawasaki would recover from the acute case of Crainial-rectitus?)

Mine would be gone.

I wouldn't get rid of my 650, its faster than Im willing to ride. I need to keep my drivers license clean. The zx14 and Hyabusa is available today and very affordable if you want fast.

750, 800, 850....you bet. I'd kick it to the curb.

1200? Nope. It would gain an easy 100lbs. It would need bigger frame, bigger brakes, etc...

I agree, something around 800 would be perfect!

For my riding needs and wants, a 1200cc anything would be, frankly, overkill - figuratively, and possibly literally.
I like the VS as is.

I like my V as is. It is cheap to buy, insure, and use. Put a 1200 in it and insurance will be way higher. Tires will be eaten by the torque, plus crappy fuel mileage.

Very rarely do I really wish I had more power. I can lift up the front if I want, and it will out drag any car up to $50k or so. Not bad for a bike I only paid $4.5k for.

If i wanted a 1200 i would have gotten a suzuki bandit. had the larger engines in the past the 650 works great for me. Was in 3rd gear coming over some rail road tracks today pulled the front wheel up and road it like that aways got a big thumbs up from some import youngsters.

Ask the Vstrom guys this question, and you will get I am keeping the 650. I have read end less stories of people test riding the 650 then buying the 1000 only to regret it. Every thing they loved about the 650 they hated about the 1000. Yes that power is addictive, but is it really necessary. I prefer lighter more flickable, over heavier and more straight line power.

Not a chance. 650 gets me in enough trouble. 1200 would just be added weight to throw around.

800 or 850 tops with ABS. 1200 is a no go! 650 is fast enough and big enough for me as it is.

A supercharged 1400 no less. Hell's yeah! That's what the MC industry needs -- crazy ****. Big ol' huffers, snails, Titanium everything.....

so if the rumours are true then you guys who want more power will be riding Triumph or BMW or Ducato next year
the Tiger 800 is supposed to be launched about know
theres rumours of an update tiger 1050 enlarged to 1150 or 1250. the suggestion there is that in the same way theres going to be 2 800 'adventures' theres going to be 2 bigger 'adventures'

or let me guess you want to pay the same as the Versys for an 800 or 1000 or 1200?

me
for me the Versys is powerful enough to scare, but not too powerful to terrify. when it starts to run out of grunt I may consider chopping it in for something else, but that something else will have to be sort of similar (the Tiger 800 may be ideal for that).

my brief test ride on a Toger 1050 confirmed to me that that bike was way too powerfull for me at that time, and I was in severe risk of loosing my licence or doing something stoopid whilst on the road

1000/1200cc Versys?
No, thank you.

I'm quite happy with this Versys configuration.
I would like to see it improved, but not by adding weight and bulk and more fuel consumption. Power is nice, though.

I'm looking forward to the 800 Tiger.
But, my dream bike would be KTM 950 Adv split in half. Either, parallel twin or smaller V twin.

All depends on how they did it. IF they did it right (By my definition, of course.), I'd be all over a 1200. Keep the weight down; give it fully adjustable, high quality suspension; more power, and a little quicker revving; adjustable wind screen (Manual is fine.); all along w/top notch fit and finish...I'd gladly pay bigger bucks for one.
