I always thought that Ver Sys means Versatile System.... but Kawasaki Canada has a different definition:

LIFESTYLE

The Versys is one of those machines that exceeds the sum of its parts. Its name, derived from “vertex” (Latin for pinnacle, summit, top) and “system,” hints at its goal of offering a truly superior platform that maximizes fun in any number of street riding situations. One ride is all it takes to confirm that the Versys 650 delivers on its any-street promise.

VERsatile SYStem

Totalement polyvalente, la Versys est à l’aise en toutes circonstances : trajet quotidien, déplacement au long cours ou balade pour le plaisir. Quelle que soit la route ou la saison, la Versys s’impose. :surprise:

The 2016 Versys 650 ABS refuses to be restricted to any one classification. Difficult to explain and impossible to categorise, the Versys 650 is one of those machines that exceeds the sum of its parts. Its combination of long-travel suspension & sporty 17” wheels, a slim, upright riding position and a low-mid range focused Parallel-Twin engine results in a highly versatile package able to offer riders maximum riding excitement in a wide variety of street-riding situations, especially on twisty mountain roads. Updated in 2015 the styling package better reflects this fun, sporty nature, while a number of updates to the chassis and a host of new accessory items make it easier for Versys owners to ride longer and farther.

The ideal motorcycle for commuting around town through the week and covering large distances on the weekend, the Versys 650 ABS is a highly talented performer indeed. The Versys range of motorcycles is all about going where you want, when you want.

Something I did not know about the MK 3

Innovative Kawasaki technology, like the radiator fan cover (patent pending), located behind the radiator directs hot air down and away from the rider, significantly increasing comfort when stuck in heavy traffic.

Redirecting the air also helps keep the tank, frame and other parts that contact the rider cooler, further increasing rider comfort.

Yeah great when stationary in traffic but still noticably and uncomfortably hot in 35C or greater temperature when travelling below 70kph...

and if they had really thought about comfort they could have done something about the seat. I am used to long rides of 5 or 6 hours non stop (except for smoke breaks, refuelling, filling body with new water and emptying body of old water) but I cannot cope with the Mk3 Versys seat for more than 3 hours....

But perhaps I am getting old....
