dropped the versys today. i wasn't on it. no injury, very minor damage.

i was pumping gas. doofus pulls up at the pump behind me on his cell phone looking backward to get his cage's gas cap in line with the pump. wasnt paying me any mind and bumped the rear tire. i grabbed the bar and it went over slowly..

bike flopped over with the gas cap open and all 5gal of freshly pumped fuel proceeded to spill and get all over my backpack, bag o clothes, boots and pants.

got her righted, chewed some college preppy boy ass, and talked the cop who was buying a pack of smokes into writing up a report.

damage? rearranged the clutch lever/mirror assembly.. no damage, just an "adjustment". scraped the left bar end, no big deal. bent the gas cap hinge - nothing a little love didn't fix. no bodywork damage or scratches/dings anywhere else.

let's hope this is the last time she's on her side, and let's hope she never goes over with me on it!

that:thumbdown: sucks, another one for distracted drivers running into a bike at the pumps now. Had a lady turn left in front of me on Monday morning but I pretty much new she was and avoided running into her. I just always figure they will turn in on ya.

Dang, glad it survived well. You are a much better man than I , I would be sitting in jail explaining how a punk is having that cell removed from his backside right now.

Your a better man than I.......punks cell phone would have been in pieces and shoved up his A**, for sure. folks like the punk kid shouldn't be allowed to breed.

What, no pics???
hah i was more worried about everything i had being soaked in gas!

i had to go to the office, stink the place up, take everything out of my bags, go at it with the 409 and paper towels, and throw away my bags. my clothes are still sitting in the bushes - brought in a plastic trash bag for transporting those home today..

damn glad it didnt catch fire. i'd have been in bad shape.

i was incredibly pissed until i got the bike righted and realized there was very little damage. plus, i didn't want to act like an arse in front of the cop. he gets enough of that i'm sure.

anyway, all is well. rode around last night and rode it in this morning and all is fine. i dodged the bullet.

There was actually a debate in here a while back about whether or not to dismount the bike when fueling it...

Did you file a claim against the cage drivers insurance? New clothes and backpack? Did they at least pay for your gas? Their ins rates may go up, and they might be more careful in the future.

edit: Oh, and they would've had to buy me new boots because they'd of been so far up his arse, he'd be wearing em like earings. :D

Clothes, back pack, contents of pack, clutch lever scratched. I can't imagine that gas cap damage won't come back to haunt you. That guy owes you, making him pay is the right thing to do. Next time he is driving maybe he'll look where he is going.

Gotta agree blipco. The kid/or-his-dad will have to pay the deductible at least. Sometimes a little negative reinforcement is required to instill good driving behavior.
