I ordered some handguards for wind protection, I went with the Trackside because I liked the look. They showed up, however I'm not sure how these are supposed to be installed.

The stock bars on the Versys have a welded "cap" on the end which allows bar ends to be screwed into place. The Trackside handguards have a casting that allows a wedge to pinch the inside of the bars. The handguards will not slide into the bars with these "caps" in place.

Are you supposed to cut the welded "cap" off the bars?

Should I just return them and get the Barkbusters as they have a Versys specific kit?

Can you remove the split sleeve and does the Trackside thread into the existing fitting?
No, the split sleeve is cast into the aluminum guard. The other option was drilling the bar end out. I ended up returning these and ordering the Barkbuster kit as it uses the existing bar weight.

I have/had ZETA XC hand guards on BOTH my Gen 1s, and NOTHING done to my bar-ends, except to tighten the XCs into them.
