I have a throttle body fault, which is suspected to be caused by stuck choke as per my previous post Bike shuts down mid ride + blown fuse
In short, dealer says its not worth replacing and I should learn to live with constant FI light and minor struggles with winter startups

However, I've discovered that throttle body isnt that expensive at all on ebay with prices $100-200. The question is, how many dealer hours you reckon it would take to fit it? Is it more complicated than valve adjustment and shim replacement?

The bike is causing me a lot problems in last few years but since I want a bigger cc bike and insurance are charging a fortune for those, it appears Im stuck with my kle and I need to get those issues sorted

Both onewizard and I have removed our "throttle-bodies" to make valve-shim checks more easily done, but that DID NOT include removing fittings, etc, from the "throttle-bodies".

Pretty easy removal-replace.

That's good to hear then. I dont think there are many fittings there, a few clamps and some harder to remove connectors?
What about the electronic adjustments after replacement? You dont need specialist equipment or do you

That is sad to read, when walking away you should look back at it with admiration not like you are "stuck with it".

Yes - I've been "stuck with it" for about 170,000 MILES among my '08, '09, and my '15 V650s....

Yeah I understand that, and I still very much like the looks, I am yet to see a bike with finer ass, decent yellow/black colour and good front
But the list of problems I've experienced in the last 12 months it's just exhausting:
1. Faulty stator (£120)
2. Faulty rectifier (£80)
3. Fork leak (£170)
4. Both front break calliper replacement (£110)
5. Coolant leak somewhere (in water pump I suppose)
6. Open wires under the tank (due to friction)
7. Back brake piston replacement (£20)
8. Snagged heated grip wire (£75)
9. Ofcourse, the actuators fault, preventing me seeing any other errors
10. Faulty non-OEM exhaust (£0, under warranty)
11. Faulty beam connector (£10)

Not to mention the enormous effort and time it took to figure out and fix them

And that's not including regular wear and tear items and maintenance like replacing chains and sprockets, brake calliper clean and rebuild, change of tyres and etc

I will also soon dish out another £400 for shim replacement and valves adjustment

And everything is for 45k miles bike that is barely worth £2k most

It is probably still cheaper to carry on and fix the issues rather go with next gen versys

I will reply to this, possibly my last reply on this forum, buy this adapter 57001-1538 see post 84 on, of Throttle Position Sensor/TPS/Modification / MK-1 MK-2...
I will need read what all of that means. Enjoy your time away!

I thought I will too do a lot of miles as well at least 100k, good looking, relatively comfy and fast enough bike, but I am loosing patience with all the extra upkeep costs
