I've never rode one but like the concept.

Have owned a 07 Honda 919 for the last few years and it does almost everything very well.

Looking for something with a little wind protection.

Anybody in Central Iowa looking to sell?

If you want more wind protection you can purchase a aftermarket screen but i do find the stock screen works for me and we can ride 4 seasons in one day here.

Saw my first 919 a few days ago... imo a gorgeous bike!
And yeah... the Versys offers a "little wind protection" lol but after coming off a full naked it should feel like a ton, not to mention you can get some aftermarket screens. The used 919 i saw at the stealership might be coming home in a couple weeks if its still there...

I'm a bit of a bike "whore" and the 919 is the longest I've own a bike. It just works, except for high speed slab duty.

I'm still going back & forth since I would have to sell the 919 to get a Versys.

I've never ridden a 919, but I understand it's a helluva bike.

The Versys is a versatile platform that you can make into about any thing you choose.

You really should ride one. Surely there's someone in your area (even a dealer) that might like to do a nice ride with you trading bikes. Would be a lot of fun to try a 919 I think.

Get a Versys and keep the 919. I have one of each and they are both extremely fun if not very different bikes. I am kcvoje on wristtwisters. If you make it up to the Twin Cities to buy my Corbin set for your 919 I'll let you test ride my Versys.

Paul.....I know your kicking around a Gen1 FZ1 also...I own both a Gen1 FZ1, and a Versys, they are my 2 favorite bikes in 40 years of riding. I know you have some concerns about the Versys on the highway, I've made many trips on mine on the interstate to get somewhere, (like the Gap) and it will cruise at 75+ with the traffic all day with no problem....

I also had a 919 Honda....never really "connected" with that bike for some reason, it's a very reliable good bike, but just wasn't me....

The Versys, like the FZ1 is a great "do it all" bike IMO...:thumb:

FZ brothers, I be MotoEd
Get the V you'll love it.
I've driven thousands of miles slab, track and just a little dirt.
She's a great ride, needs no engine mods and couple $hundred and suspension will work great.
We're all over the place.

Alot of guys on the ZRX boards have Versys too.

Everybody seems it love them.

I can't help but think that it is quite a bike since both the FZ1 riders and ZRX riders like them. Especially since the FZ1 has a huge top end and the ZRX has a ton of torque. How can guys that are used to that much power like the Versys? It must be that good. I think I'm in a point in my life that "light is right", that is why I've had the 919 so long. I think I need to ride one. I'm also in a point in my life that "one bike only" applys, so it is going to have to do everything. I think I would even trade the 919 for the right Versys.

The Bandit 1250 also interests me because of the torque, but man that thing is porky.

I traded a Bandit 1200 (Naked) on my Versys. No regrets.
For me, a light bike with sporty handling and a punchy motor is a lot more fun.
If I were in the market for a two-up touring bike that 1250 would be my pick. Super smooth.

ZRX to the Versys

The Versys has a great motor but I don't think it is even in the same ballpark as a ZRX other than riding position. The ZRX has 127 HP!. If your considering that the V is not going to put out that kind of torque. I had a ZZR 600 that the power was amazing but the riding position was brutal. The Versys is comfortable and fun to ride but it is not going to be rip your face off fast.
