Tuesday I decided I would enjoy a bit of a long ride, so I suited-up, and left home at noon, headed E to AZ 79, N to AZ 60, then to AZ 70 just S of Globe, and onwards to the road to the dam.
The news had indicated that the excess moisture (rain, snow-melt at higher regions) was filling the Gila River to overflowing, and I wished to take a look W/OUT getting near any flood areas. My GPS indicated that it would be about 2 hrs 15 mins riding, so despite the fact that I've "done" this ride multiple times - when I took the turn heading W off AZ 70 onto 170 I had forgotten just how crappy that road is. Be on your "A-game" if you try it!
Last time here I could get some PDG pics over the walls, but now they've added MORE vertical bars to the fencing, and... NOT so great for pics now.

I WAS able to squeeze my camera between bars, and got a couple of decent pics, first over the 'spillway' looking W, (but unfortunately NOT able to capture the spillway)

and looking N along the dam.

PLUS a gratuitous pic of BIG RED patiently awaiting me to 'hop on'.

The water level is HIGHER than I've ever seen it, which brings to mind that, when the dam was being officially opened by a comedian who looked out over this "less-than-wet" area, is purported to've said "If this lake was mine - I would MOW it!"
Here are several 'high-water' pics of it.
