i‘ve been a member for sometime from owning a V1K, but in the process of picking up a used VX3 and looking at options for a tail trunk. I see Kawasaki offers a 30l that appears to be made by GIVI. I’m not sure if the mounting system is typical monokey or monolock. I’m looking also at the Givi E300 series (30l). Can anyone confirm that either the Kawasaki or the Givi mount attaches directly to the rear rack on the VX3?
Thanks!

Perfect! That’s exactly what I was hoping to hear about the plate being a direct bolt on!
Thanks!

Kaw's top box for the X300 uses a Givi Mono lock system plate which came with the Box. Yes it is made by Givi. I got one on my bike. But you will need to buy the color panel extra. Yes the plate will attach to the oem rack.

Thanks Chuck! I ended up ordering a Kappa trunk, which is the “other” GIVI brand. I’ll get you a pic when I get it. BTW, is it possible to re-key these bags, like we did on the V1K?

Kawasaki's top box is a complete disgrace. they could not go any cheaper; it takes me 5 min to close that damm thing. in fact, from my experience, all the boxes that are sitting on a plastic base, sooner or later begin to rattle. I have ordered Hepco Becker rack and Junior top box. they are good quality and sit rock-solid on a bike.

Givi/Kappa/Kawasaki use at least two different latching systems for their top box. I’m guessing the Kawasaki offering for the 300 is the type with the latch you have to hook to the lid and then turn the key to lock - which can be a PITA. Up the food chain a bit is the more conventional lid that you simply push shut to latch - with the key either in or out.
You are correct about the mounting systems being prone to rattles sometimes. Usually an added rubber bumper or two solves the problem.

I have never seen such a locking system. one has to manipulate and pushing forward the plastic locking plate up to reach on the inside the plastic part on which it can be locked. completely retarded system. I will take it off (I got the Kawasaki box as a supplement for free) after I get the Hepco rack and box. I also like SW Motech, which I have on V1, but they do not offer solid box for the V3.

I recently upgraded my box from the givi 30 liter to the E370 as my adventure styled helmet would not fit in the little guy. It wasn't much more expensive (~$140 with shipping) and the latching system is much more practical!

I know that many bikers seem to be content with the top boxes with plastic adapters, but I really dislike them. They will begin to rattle sooner or later. I just installed Hepco steel rack with a 40L Junior top case, and it is all rock solid. The case looks a bit rugged, but I like it, and especially I like the 2 latch locking system and the fact that I can close the box without needing to use a key.

Re the discussion about the monolock (and even monokey) systems being prone to rattles after a period of time, I mentioned earlier that usually they can be fixed with the simple addition of one or two rubber bumpers. After a very short time, my new monolock system was showing signs of a loose fit and rattles, so I added a couple rubber bumpers yesterday. Perfect results and now totally solid!

where did you get these bumpers? I ask because I have a plastic adapter on another bike. I noticed that you fitted them only in the front...are they plastic or made of some kind of rubber?

These were some I had laying around. I don’t remember where I got them, but i had them to modify the slope of the seat on a Tenere I used to own. The other one in the attached picture are the normal GIVI bumpers that are used on most of their mounts.
