Yeah, a better rear shock would help, though there is only so much you can do with the super short wheelbase of the V in terms of ride quality. If I went soft on the suspension it would bottom out on potholes and wallow when leaned over, the previous owner had no idea how to set suspension and had it set full soft, the bike was a big pile of wallow and brake dive when I first got it, also had an incomplete lowering job. One of the owners before the guy I bought it from put a MotoWerk lowering link on the back but never lowered the front end, I left the link in place and just dropped the forks to match which was the biggest improvement to the handling.
