Hi all, I am a new rider of the Versys 650 ABS, seems a little unsteady on tight corners and round-a-bouts at slow speeds (maybe too slow)many post mention suspension set up is important, as yet I can't find what the recommended settings should be, I am a lightweight rider at 230lbs, also want to ride with passenger 140lbs.
Question, if the suspension and dampening are wrong for my weight would it make the bike slide on hot dry roads in tight bends?

Maybe. Do a search on setting sag. Also there is no setting that will work with and without passenger. When you add passenger you need to adjust rear preload for best result.

Thanks, I kinda got that, but I can't seem to get any specs, mine is around 45mm rear sag and 32 front, not sure if that's ok, the rear shock is only on 3rd notch though...

:welcome: If your still on the stock tires the loss of grip might be due to that. The stockers are garbage.. Also the Versys is a tall bike that is finicky in slow tight situations.

Is that with you on the bike? Should be between 45 and 60 mm front and rear. Better not to have the back one smaller than front one.

Seems to me that you're "ball-park" on the rear, tho' a few more mms sag could be better.

Thanks guys, tyre are michys not stock dunlops and I Don't have the socket yet to adjust front sag, seems to me the rear is a bit soft, only on 2nd notch but gives around 45mm sag, if I put it up a notch it goes to 30mm no happy medium it seems, tyres are 34 front and 37 rear as per mich guidelines, not sure what else to try, feels slippy on the round a bout.

Through a link on here, gave a lot of different brands and the manufactures recommended inflations, do they sound wrong?

I run 32/36 . Feel confidence going into a turn and have a line of sight of ever you want to go. Riding is by line of sight, the bike will go where you see.

Stock rear coil spring is simply not sufficiently compliant at 940 lb/in... I can set proper sag, and use all of the suspension's travel with my 800 lb/in spring. (I weigh 208 lbs) Correct suspension setup starts with the ideal spring rate.

Try 2 turns from maximum proload on fork springs, with rebound damping screw at 1/8 turn out from seated.

sorry to be a numbty, but is fully seated all the way in? and is the 2 turns on sag from all the way in too?

the stock springs are to soft for 2 up springs are cheap, take it to a tuner while your there get a re valve made a huge difference to my bike, no diving under braking, steadied the bike through the corners etc, the rear you can live with stock in fact when i am 2 up rear its very good with the extra weight

Does anyone know of a good motorbike training school near Malaga Spain, maybe it's me who needs some adjustment to my technique, not been on a bike for a few years and my last few bike where, Harley 883 Hugger, Goldwing and a Pan European ST1100 all big thumpers, so a mid range high rever may need to be ridden differently??
