It just took me 15 minutes to watch this video. Now, I'm going to have to SPEED in order to not be late for work! As Homer Simpson would say, "D-oh!"

As a 'recent' move-to-BC person, the speed limits here make absolutely NO sense! In Alberta (where I moved FROM), limits on divided highways are GENERALLY 110 km/hr (68.x mph), while HERE they tend to be 90 (55 mph). With gov't run ICBC (Insurance Corp of BC) mandated as THE supplier of basic car insurance, it is in the government's interest to keep limits LOW to keep insurance rates UP.:badidea:

BTW - insurance in BC for my '09 V co$t$ around $100 per month, WITHOUT collision, while I just renewed my AZ insurance for that '08 V, which INCLUDES collision, for $206 for a WHOLE year!!!

What a rip-off BC is!

And again, after my comment an interesting topic dies...
In Europe the speed limit on the highway is 130km/h... WAY about the 100 we "enjoy" here...and amazingly the distances there are much shorter...

The problem is from what I gather round the world is to much revenue being generated from speeding fines to stop that income, all in the name of safety.

Excellent video. The parallels with gun control are uncanny...or taxes, or...well I think we can all agree that the nature of any government tends toward corruption and outright stupidity, common sense need not apply. I was born in Michigan, but now live in Texas. They recently upped the speed limit on I-20 to 75 m.p.h. here :thanx: I've heard that it's 85 m.p.h. in west Texas. That's around 120 km/h and 136 km/h for you Canucks...or every other place on Earth that uses the metric system besides the States :)

Yep, Texans do love to go fast. The new "extension" to the toll road around Austin has an 85 mph speed limit. When translated into Texan that means, "Ya'll better be drivin' at least 85, ya hear?"

When first opened it was free for several days and folks almost lined up for a chance to go like hell. There isn't anything on that remote section of excellent road EXCEPT something like 200,000 feral pigs (who apparently have little regard for roads, vehicles, or Texans in general). On the first day, go git 'em Texans nailed three large pigs and what passes for a deer in that neck of the woods. No deaths (thankfully) but lots of cage damage. Dang, we do love our fun.

Can't imagine hitting a large pig with a bike at speeds over 85.

First what do you do for a profession?

Wow, you are correct 85% of us like it. The rest are completely full of fear! Save the children! FGS! :D :thumb:

I wonder what type of look you would get filing an insurance claim stating that you totaled your cage by hitting a pig :D

In Texas, the agent would probably just nod.
:funnypost: Yep. Hitting a pig falls into the "it ain't nothing much" category, especially if you're lucky enough to have two first names like Jim-Bob, or Joe-Ray, or the best-of-all single first names, Bubba. Remember, Texas is a state where the murder defense, "Well, he just needed killin' your honor" still works. :D:D

A couple years ago my parents were driving down a 4 lane road in VA around sunset in my dads new Tacoma. They were in a area with lots of pasture land when they were being passed by a full size truck. My mom thought she saw a dark shadow in front of her so she applied the brakes. The other truck did not. He slammed into a full size horse at 60+, and my mom hit a goat, but had slowed down to much slower speeds. Both animals were put down by the state police. My dads truck had only a scuff and some goat fur stuck to it as it was a glansing blow. The other truck was a complete write off from hitting the horse.
