I'm new to the area and wondered if anyone would share a few good day rides around Encino. I hear Topanga canyon is wild into Malibu. Any suggestions?

Welcome but you probably wont get many socal replies cuz no Versys's sold in Cali. As soon as they are available in Cali I will be getting one.

As for a Malibu ride. There will be a Supermoto ride in the Malibu area June 29th. The riding style/stance of the Versys is more sumo then sportbike. Your are welcome to come there should be between 25-35 sumo's and 1 streetbike. There will be a bunch of different bikes every thing from DRZ400 SM's, Huskys, Ktm's, to converted dirt bikes and others.

Check out the info at this link (note the 29th is the locked in Date no more changing it)

I hear that bringing Versys to America was a last minute decision and the No Versys in California related to some small/special California requirement the current model does not meet, I think gas tank venting? I also heard that they might be bringing them in in about a year, but I'm more prone to believing the former.
