The forecast was great, so I headed SW to ride by Picacho Peak - site of the MOST westward battle in the Civil War. Neat looking hill, and from certain angles it appears to be a "wolf howling".

First pic from near Eloy, AZ. Picacho is on the right third of the horizon.

As I got closer I used the secondary road paralleling I-10 on the W side, partly for the view, but MOSTLY to stay OFF the 'super-slab'...! This pic as it heads E before it comes around to the S,

with a Pecan farm bordering the road.

For the next 15 miles Picacho Peak is dominating the W side.

There are hiking trails along the W side, including one that goes UP and OVER w/ cables to hold onto as you climb, gloves RECOMMENDED!

The service road crosses I-10 to the E side, then five miles S it connects to the Park Link Road that goes E 17 miles to AZ 79.

Here's Picacho from a turn-off I use to... 'take a rest-stop'...!

The "howling wolf" becoming apparent (at least - to ME!).

As the road wends its way E I stopped for a couple of pics along Park Link,

plus another looking S along that road.

From there it's about 45 miles home, so I filled up w/ gas in Florence, my mileage coming in at 51.5 mpgUS. Got home around 1600 after a ride of 109.3 miles, and enjoyed a "cool one" in the 79F...!
