I have some track stands that came with the V and have only used the rear (on spools). I have been lucky to always have the wife or a neighbor handy to put the stand under and push the handle down while I steady the bike and to remove it also. Does anybody have a way to do either of these moves by yourself?

Really easy to do by yourself.

1. Bike off in 1st gear with front wheel straight on kickstand of flat ground.
2. Position stand as close to the spools as possible.
3. Using back grab handles tilt bike upright with one hand from kickstand and align stand with spools.
4. lift back tire with stand while steadying the back with the back grab handles.

The only thing I'd add to Heavyhiking's post - get a piece of 2x4 or 2x6 to place under the sidestand and you'll find that it's ALMOST vertical, and so, very easy to put onto the 'track stand'.
