I have had my 08 Versys for 3 weeks now. One thing I am having a hard time getting used to is the small size of the rear brake pedal. I have seen numerous posts on how to lower the pedal. Any info on a larger pedal? Thanks

this could be a big part of your problem... it ws mine when i got my V

Good job Silvie. My problem is on the other side. My knee hurts after every ride from having to take my already pronated (angling out away from the bike) foot and turn it way under the shift lever. Needless to say this happens a lot more times per ride than using the rear brake. Any reason not to use your bend method on the shift lever??

nope ive used it on shifters too... just as i said in vid dont be a dumb gorilla and reef on it , think it all the way thru before you do it (a "dry run" is always a good idea) and think about were the force you are putting in is going, and heat is your friend but not plastics
and im also pigeon toed.. i drag toe before i drag peg lol>:)

The brake pedal is standard size, only cruisers have bigger pedals. Suggest motorcycle boots with thin, stiff sole for better dexterity shifting and braking. Pedal position can be moved up or down

I was going to post something on this same subject. I was fine with the Versys until I bought a BMW R1200RT. The BMW brake pedal is much beefier (1" dia. x 2 1/2"L) and is at a much more comfortable angle for use. In the pics the Versys pedal sits about 2 1/4" below the foot peg. On the BMW it is about 1/4" above the foot peg. I want this set up for my Versys. May need to do some frankenstein welding to get what I want.

if you just want it angled up more it is adjustable you know?

Yea, I saw that but there isn't 2" of adjustment there. Fine tuning for sure once I mangle the existing one into a more user friendly shape.

well remove that threaded rod, go to a hardware store, and find some threaded rod with threading. measure and cut the rod to desired length and bobs your mothers brother :)

$12 for the threaded connector from Speedy. May still require some grinding on the existing stud to get the height where you want it.

I think I can extend the rod to get about another 1" - 1 1/2" or so. (probably go with Speedy's kit - I'm lazy..) I have a Yoshi pipe right under the bugger and it looks like maybe it's gonna hit or maybe not. I also found a slip on knurled pedal like on the RT. Sounds like I found another winter maintenance project. If winter ever comes..

Could not agree more. The brake pedal is tiny (I take size 43 boots) so it is not the size of my feet. It might work well in street shoes but wearing anything protective you really have to move your foot. Not good. Tried searching the web for alternates but nothing found. Will take it to my bush mechanic and I am sure he will find a part from another bike that fits (my Super Sherpa is only 80% Kawasaki parts). If all else fails it is the welding route!
