I have matching GIVI side cases and top box on my V1, and they also match the bike. (See pics below.) This weekend while riding I was hit by a pickup truck. I'm okay, but the bike isn't. Starting the insurance process now.

I'm wondering what is done these days regarding side cases. I see lots of adventure bikes sporting aluminum cases. I can replace my side cases with what I have, or change them (if the mounting brackets match).

Thank you.

I have aluminum panniers on my '08 (and had them on my '09) - love 'em for the 'top-loading' - and I'm still considering changing my '15 bags to similar.

The ones on the RED V are TUSK.

Sorry about the bike man.

I do not have a lot of experience with side bags. I do not like the side loading. I have used the cases that came with the bike as little as possible because they are a pain.

If I had top loaders, Id probably use the dang things regularly.

CuddyBuddy...sorry to hear about your motorcycle but GLAD you're OK!!!

As for side cases I think it's going to depend on what you intend to use them for. With my 2018 Versys I went back and forth on the side cases. I've always been a Shad fan but the ones I liked were only made for smaller bikes. Eventually, I settled for the OEM cases as 1) They complement the bike's lines very well (IMO) and, 2) As I don't always use the side cases I liked the look of NOT having ugly brackets sitting there while the side cases are off.

I did go with the Givi 47L top case and that thing holds everything I normally ride with.

With all that said, I'm not necessarily all about the looks but when I analyzed the prices all brands came out pretty much even. I figured the OEM's were just the same as the others. I'm not a fan of the box cases but they are the only ones that are top-loaded, which I do like. (I did get a discount on the OEM bags from my dealer, which knocked the OEM price down closer to Shad's and Givi's. Maybe you can do the same from your local dealer!)

I can 2nd DevilsFan's comment about the Givi 47 liter top case (V47N I believe is the part number for the one I got).

Its pretty basic but holds just about everything I need on a daily basis and fits my laptop inside a leather carry bag flat on the bottom. Its easily the most useful "mod" Ive made on the bike so far. My only gripe with it is I wish that there was some kind of net for inside of the lid. Although there is a wire rack Ive been eyeballing (part no. E159) and I would imagine that you could probably rig something up with the screw mounts.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you're ok and that you are already planning to get back on the road. Sorry no advice on the side bags as I'm new here. I've got the oem bags and plan to either get the top trunk mentioned or buy the oem one.
