So a couple months ago I got a Versys X-300. I love it!!! I also have a Honda ST1300, that I have had for the last 10 year, done an Iron Butt on, and I still love, that is great! It is good for 2-up with my wife, but she only rides...maybe...once a year with me. Should I keep the ST1300, or sell it and just have the Versys? Convince me to keep the ST!

My insurance for multiple bikes is less than one alone.
If one needs work you can still ride.
You can never have too many motorcycles.
If you are asking then obviously you can afford to keep it.
Think of all the memories that flood back when you walk into the garage and see it.
They don't make it anymore and there is little value in the ST.
Once a year is better than never. Talking about riding! The bike! With her! Sheesh!

Same here, but St1300 and versus 650, both older. St is the highway eating tourer of my dreams, versus is lighter and great as a commute. Keep both and be versatile and happy 😃
Of course you should keep both ! I have a Honda NT700V (basically a little brother to the ST1300) along with my Versys-x 300 (which now has the shad box I got from you -- so we're practically brothers).
The Honda is for longer trips, low maintenance shaft, on-road comfort. (heavier / more stable on the highway)
The Kawi is for shorter trips, off-road jaunts, fire roads, etc. (lighter, more nimble)
Unless you find that unicorn bike we all dream of ... or run on hard times and need to sell something, a two-bike minimum is the only thing that make sense !

I had a 2007 ST1300 that I sold before purchasing my current 2019 V650LT a little over a year ago. I had the ST for five years and enjoyed the power, comfort, and styling. But I reached a point where I was not comfortable with it for the type of riding I do the most - backroads, easy-going pleasure rides, and shorter commutes. The weight of it had me being selective where I rode - would I be able to safely do a 180 to reverse course? It got over on me twice a very low speeds which ended up with me laying it down.
I sold the ST to a local fellow who had already had two three bikes, including another ST police version. He does funeral escorts. So my bike went to a good home with someone who knows the bike and is skilled with it. His wife is often onboard with him.
I enjoy the Versys, although I had to get used to the high revs at highway speeds - a couple grand higher than the ST. But the reduced weight (250 lbs. less) and maneuverability is greatly appreciated. It’s a simpler bike in many ways and perfect for my type of riding. I ride solo all the time, so it’s great for what I do - enjoy the outdoors on two wheels!

If you are so inclined, you can always apply a formula to your problem and remove any emotion from the decision. This formula will compute how many bikes you should have access to:
B=X+1
B is the target number of bikes to own.
X is the number of bikes you currently own.

It only works up to a point if you are keeping all of them running, registered, and ridden! I always dreamed of having a W800 instead of the Moto Guzzi on the end and then I would have had the perfect Kawasaki Stable of bikes!
I've had a lot of bikes over the years, but never more than 3 at one time! I now see why your name is twowheeladdict! LOL!

I was riding about 30,000 miles a year during that time, with a 15 year average of 25,000 miles a year. It was nice to come home and just jump on a different bike and head out again. If the maintenance intervals stacked up, trade one off and start over again. LOL! Yep, it is a disease! Always had one motorcycle until we became empty nesters. That is when the addiction and the desire to ride everywhere I could took off.
Same boat myself I have a 2003 FJR 1300 love the power hate the crotch rocket seating position after a couple hours.
I agree the ST1300 has been the best bike I've ever owned. Many great miles and memories.
