I was talking to mate who owned a bike shop about tuning up my bike and i asked about tuning the throttle bodies and what involved etc and how do you tune these twins up and i got a strange answer so this is what he said.
1:Wasting my cash on buying mercury gauges once the butterfly are done there will be fine for years.
2: apart from oil change and air filter once a year that's all.
3: plugs last for years dont waste coin.

I told him my bike not running as good as when i got the tune done after run in, the sound, not a smooth at idle etc after about 10 months of use.

He said do you rev it much, not really sometimes but not that much... that's the problem they get carboned up and need to run hot to clear them out.
Solution take it out thrash it in the lower gears get the motor real hot (about 20mins) , it burns out all the crap and it will run fine..

He told me of customers who came in every 6 months because they putt around all he would do is drop the oil and take it out for thrash and customers would comment of how much better the bike was.

This sound too easy, so i did what he said, didn't run it as hot as i should have as its a bit hilly were i live but guess what it worked...

Anyone else discovered this Little secret?

If you can't overheat an engine in Australia, I don't know where else to go.

What your mate said is common knowledge for cars. I don't know how much it applies to small bike engines.

I'm convinced my mother halved the performance of her VW Polo by putting along at 40km/h in 3rd gear. She even trained it to start from dead stop in 3rd gear.

On other bikes I've had, yes...I usually can't keep from twisting the throttle hard on the V so I probably don't have any carbon built up in it..

It will do it good to take the V out on the super slab and open her up from time to time as well..

For the most part I suppose he's right. Still, if you're going through the routine to clean and re-oil the air filter (pull the screen, pull the cowlings, pull the tank), it seems silly not to replace the plugs at the same time. And hey, with all that stuff out of the way it's a good time to drain the coolant, flush the reservoir and radiator and get a refill on the 50/50.
