Forgive a Versys newbie if this is common knowledge, but yesterday I realized that the horn can be rotated 180 degrees inboard in about 10 seconds. There is no interference with brake hoses or anything else while turning bars thru the travel limits, but that was on the kickstand. Has anyone ever checked it with the forks compressed? Maybe that's why Kawasaki hung it out in the breeze?

I though the same thing. why not rotate it. It looks to be about the dumbest thing on the bike l like everything else but that horn location makes no sense.

Just get an air horn, not very difficult to install and it will save your life!
First thing I did when I got my bike.

Where did you mount yours. I was going to see if my Stebel would fit where the stock horn is located on my 2016 V-1000. Was waiting till some other items came in before i take the plastics off.

webBikeWorld installed an air horn on their 2015 LT test mule. Denali Soundbomb Split Horn Review - webBikeWorld
Detailed instructions and clear, annotated photos are a web bike world standout. It would be great if all how-to articles were as thorough. I guess we can always wish.

Oh yes, step one for many modern motorcycles - disassemble machine. Sort of like trying to install air conditioning in an old Jaguar E Type for which that was the first step in the installation process! Apparently only wimps would ever want air conditioning in an E Type.

I had Stebel on 2009, now I bought Denali split, basically the same air horn, but the compressor is separated.
You can find some instructions and photos on my thread

I installed the Stebel or WOLO horns under the left-side fairing on both Gen 1s

then removed it when the '09 was "written-off", and re-installed it on my '15 in the SAME location....

The "arrow" is the second pic points to the relay I installed for it.
