I got caught in the rain yesterday on a 15 mile ride home from work. I have a nice ride in the country to get home BUT not when the farmers are out harvesting and it's raining. :nono: They drag mud, wheat chaff, corn husk, and bean hulls all over the road. Plus who knows what else. All I know it I and the bike and I were a nice chocolate brown and gray when I got home and stank like baked mud and poop. I ended up having to wash the bike before putting it in the garage. I then had to hose off all my gear before I was allowed in the house. The jacket and rain pants went in the tub with Woolite and the was was gray for two washings. My boots and helmet were also a mess and I washed them along with my gloves.

So if you plan to "Wash & Ride" to clean your gear stay away from the farmland. Of course it's going to rain all weekend so I'll put around in the garage taking care of things.

Use to ride motocross at a track that use to be a pig farm. Great track but you knew you would smell like pig poop and pee as soon as you hit the first wet corner..:)

I remember when I used to mountain bike the local fire roads in the wet season. The stuff that didn't come off when I sprayed the bike with a hose was the cow dung.

Glad you kept the rubber side down!

One of the "joys-of-life" when I lived in Alberta, was following, or passing, a 'cattle-hauler' truck....

Ya just KNOW that that 'fine-spray' is gonna smell... and SOMETIMES the spray is a "fart-with-fluid-drive"...!

Living in England it was just expected that you'd get caught in the rain sometimes, so wet weather gear was a must, as was a powerfull hose pipe (not a powerwasher!) when you got home.

Just check out the Versys Owners UK Scotland Trip videos & you'll see what I mean!

These guys are driving on the wrong side of the road !!!!!!!!!

No they're on the left side of the road and that's the right side on the road there. Here the left side is the wrong side and the right side of the road is the right side to be on...or something like that....I think...
