Ok, I know it's new, but I'm hoping someone here might know how this is done. I see two accessible screws. Taking them out does not get the panels off. Not sure if they are held on with rubber grommets like Hondas or if there are hidden screws all over creation like Yamahas. Hate to pull on them and find out they aren't like Hondas.

TIA

By the way, all I'm trying to do is run a wire from the battery under the seat to the front to power my GPS/XM radio.

Don't know about the 1000 but the 650 panels pop off using rubber grommets after removing the 2 screws. Perhaps the UK 1000 forum might have more help.

Thanks Mav. I did a little Googling around and found that the previous design used grommets so I crossed my fingers and pulled hard and voila, they came off...mostly.

Actually, 4 screws hold them in place.

One in the back here:

One in the front on the top here:

That orange piece is affixed with rubber grommets everywhere else.

Under the orange piece is another screw here:

And finally, one screw up front that can not be reached by Amurican corn fed hands. Fortunately, I didn't need to remove that one to run my wire.

After all that, the Geepus now lives to fight another day.

Bunch of help, thx.
Btw, what type Mount are u using for GPS? Is it attached to the handlebar
in the cemter?
It's called a Ram ball mount. As I recall, the unit came with a couple of them. I may have bought an extension somewhere along the line. If you look at the last pic closely, you'll see the extension bolted on to the left side of the handlebar. I have my XM antenna bolted on the right.

The one bad thing about this set up is that it's in the way of the gas cap unless you turn the handlebars. No biggie, but the first time I got gas, I undid the hand screw to move it out of the way. Then I noticed it is out of the way when the bars are turned. Duh!

Kaw had shown a Zumo 550 mount that fit in the center above the speedo at one point, but the latest one I saw was for something else. Anyway, all the add ons for Kaw seem to be on perpetual back order or stuck in a port somewhere, so I just used what I had.

Someone noted that if you use the 12V adapter provided by Kaw, the plug for the GPS sticks out and interferes with turning the handlebar. I use heated gear wires for everything and just zip tie them out of the way. :goodluck:
