SHINKO E-705's, in stock V650 sizes on THAT V650.What tires are you running Ed?
You said stock V650 sizes, but as far as I know they don't make the 705s in a 160, do they? Do you run the 150 or 170 rear? Trying to decide which size to buy. Thanks.SHINKO E-705's, in stock V650 sizes on THAT V650.

You are correct - I realized THAT after leaving the Forum yesterday. Actual sizes are 120/70 x 17, and 150/60 x 17 on my '15 V650, 130/80 x17 and 150/60 x 17 on my '08 (w/ raised front fender). You said stock V650 sizes, but as far as I know they don't make the 705s in a 160, do they? I agree. From a design point of view these bars look sublime and capture the great lines of the Gen 3. The thing I don't like about big bar set ups is you have to take them off and on to do any work under the side fairings. I don't really need all the extra protection. The SW Motech are better for me as you don't have to remove them for any small tasks. But I have to say these Puig bars look like they are part of the bike and don't mess up an already good design!Nobody seems to recommend the Puig crash bars but they install simply, are really durable, and IMO look more streamlined to the contours of the bike vs. the T-Rex ones which are more boxy.

Good point on the tradeoff between the SW Motech ones and the Puig...it will be an added pain to take mine off for getting under the side fairings, but I opted to have a bit more coverage than the SW Motech ones in the hopes that they protect against a few extra angles of a drop etc.I agree. Really, were they enough to prevent fairing and turn signal damage? On off-road oriented tours, I have added an ugly addition to the OEM mount to give some additional space for the plastic. If it's not needed, I'll leave it with the sliders.I can recommend the OEM sliders, having drop tested them on both sides now 😭
