Hello, I am replacing the rear tire on my brothers 08 Versys. He just bought it used. What is on the rear now is a Bridgestone BT-021. I am going to replace it with the BT-023. The owners manual shows the stock size as a 160/60-17 It has a 160/70-17 on it right now. The difference in price is $7.00. Which tire size should I go with and why.

On a side note I just spent a lot of time reading lots of posts here on tires. I found lots of good info!

You should get a 160/60-17 because it's of the correct dimensions and profile.

I have run every size on our V (including a 180/55) and since I live 30 minutes from the Dragon it is my test track. My favorite rear for all out sport riding is a 170 but The Girl prefers the stock 160/60 all of the time and I prefer the stock size the majority of the time.

My advice would be stick to stock and the 023 rear and S20 front is magic on the V.

Got the BT-023 (stock size) mounted and balanced. Thanks for the help.

On a side note, using 2 floor jacks I had the tire off in 5 minutes.

It takes a lot longer on my shaft drive shadow. I have to pull the right floorboard, seat, saddle bags, & exhaust off
