Hello,

I have a new 2017 650 Versys. I noticed an issue where the bike conks out repeatedly when I try start moving because it's not really in first gear as the display says. I believe it was not really in first gear when this happens because the fix is to shift to neutral and then shift t first again.

Anyone hear of issues where the gear you're in is not the gear that is shown on the display screen?

Several things you need to check, clutch switch, kickstand switch. If it is under warranty I would head there first. The gear indicator should have nothing to do with it. In reality if you were in second gear and stalled it, you could restart as long as the kickstand was up and the clutch pulled in.
When you say bike conks out repeatedly when I try start moving because it's not really in first gear as the display says, just describe that, does it stall, any warning lights?
