Fellow riders and bikers,

A grave decision has been secretly made between the Malaysian government and a private Australian rare earth plant, Lynas to built a rare earth waste plant in Malaysia. Please help to sign the petition to say no to such a plant where no environmental or health assessment has been made. Australia has such large desert, inhabited land, but why is it coming to a small little country like Malaysia, and the factory is built near a residential area?

Thank you for the support. Please help our 3rd world country and our people who has things to say but not heard of. Please help to alert your friends and family to this petition.

In the past, Mitsubishi had a rare earth plant in Malaysia, somewhere near my hometown. It was a mistake then, when we didn't know better. The Malaysian government has not learned from the past and is trying to make a repeat of a mistake. Someone, besides the politicians will have to suffer from this decision.

Here's the past history.

2da, I don't think many people over here care. As long as we can get enough gas to drive our Hummers around I guess things are alright. Good luck and good health.

Phil, yes, I remember Lucy in the Xena Princess Warrior episodes. Surprised that she has taken such a stand but admire her courage.

Blipco, yes, there are many that may not care and I am guilty as well for most things. Mostly because of our ignorance. I am hoping that with international attention and participation, our politicians will pay some attention.

110% so true, sadly. We have major tropical forest deforestation, with prized timber marked as low cost pine wood (aka non tropical forests products) and fraudulently imported into the Europe. Not surprisingly the state governor also owns the entire state timber industry. Major conflict of interest that is obvious and yet allowed to go on.

Leslie, if you watch movies as i do there is a lot of them with the same theme that man stuffs the planet then the earth fights back and destroys most of man and the few survivors get a chance to start on a brand new clean planet, science fiction that has a lot of fact in it. NZ has its own issue's with the argument of mining beautiful conservation land as well as the huge oil reserves that are all around us.

My opinion is we need balance the needs of the planet and harness more green energy, if we could phase out our dependence on fossil fuels would go a long way to healing the planet.

It's called conservation. Here in the U.S. there is constant talk of foreign oil independence coupled with a never ending supply. Why not get by with what we have? Conserve. There is NO talk of asking the citizens to turn down the thermostat, drive slower, why buy a 160 HP car when a 500 HP car is more fun. Why not install a single window air conditioner instead of cooling your whole house at night while you sleep? You don't dare tell an American he can't waste resources and any political leader who would say such a thing will soon find himself out of a job. Sad.
