Hi, Just got my new 2019 with 40mi on it. seeing alot of different opinions on when to change to synthetic. I was thinking of just draining it now and have it synthetic forever. All my german cars run on it, and they go forever. Thoughts?

:welcome: aboard!

On all three of my V650s (bought new) I "broke" them in on the ride home - about 50 miles - then changed the oil & filter, [AGAIN at 500, and 1,000] but went synthetic at the 1,000 mile change.

NOW? I would "break" them in on the ride home - about 50 miles - then go full synthetic w/ Mobil1 15w-50.

My 2018 Versys 650 run on Motorex 15W50 since first service at 1000 km. Before that I didn't ask service guy which oil was in motorbike.

I think the days of needing "break-in oil" are gone. Many vehicles now come off the assembly line with full synth in them.

On mine, I waited until the 600 mile change and switched to synthetic. I'd just wait until then, there is really no reason to change it at 40 miles unless you're dying to have synthetic in it.
