I got back into riding about 3 months ago on a DRZ400S. Bought a 2013 Versys 650 about a week ago. I have been cautioned that this bike is too high performance for a newbie by some. Others say it is an okay bike to learn on so long as you take it easy. I saw a youtube video of somebody trying to wheelie it and riding it over backwards. Is this a risk for me as I start to get a little heavier on the throttle? Or am I okay as long as I don't try to wheelie it?

Back into riding? So you have some experience? The Versys will lift in the 1st 2 gears if you hammer it and drop the clutch, apart from that if you have any experience or common sense you should be fine.
