Hello all.
New to the forum, versys, and riding. Lol. Cant get any newer to it I believe.
I have yet to recieve it, but plan to get it tomorrow 3/22/2010.
What is "it"?

It is: 08 Kawasaki Versys
Vivid Red.
3,232 Miles on it
Givi hard bags and trunk, with matching trim.
Painted to match lower cowling?? plastic piece. (pics to come/explain.)
^^^ They are just below the engine, on the frame.
The taller smoked windshield, the one Kawi sells.
Also this bike is so clean I feel like quoting Wanyes world...."We're Not Worthy!" Lol. It looks as though it came off the production floor, was transported to the detail shop, and then stored in this guys garage.

I believe that about sums it up. Sorry for the noob descriptions on everything.
As stated the pics will come....when the bike does. Hoping for no rain.

Like I said before I am a complete newbie when it comes to anything..I dont even have a permit but Im buying a bike anyway! I have wanted a Versys since I rode a friends in college. Now 21 with a factory job I felt it was time to get one. Lucky me I found the exact one I want.
Sorry for the book..but Im excited.:thumb:
Jon.

Agreed. I will deffinitely be safe. At 21 years old this is the most expensive thing I have purchased. I have yet to get a helmet..Thats Wednesdays task. As for leathers..not yet. I will however wear a carrhart jacket, for some protection untill a nice leather one rolls around.
I have taken the bags off to fit it in the garage, and thats where it will stay untill
1. Rain goes away....last thing this noob wants it a wreck in the rain.
2. Helmet and gloves are bought.

Hi Jon, bit jealous, took me to 41 to get a bike like that and you only 21. Like fastoman says get the right gear on, these guys on this forum will give you some great advice. Just my personal view on jackets, i do have a good leather jacket but in the conditions i ride in, we can have 4 seasons weather in one day. I found my leather can be to hot when its hot and if I have to ride through heavy rain with out a rain suit, once my leather gets wet it can be a pain in the bum to get dry on the road so i brought a Ixon jacket which does not have the same protection as the leather but does have armour and you can open up vents for those hot days and is waterproof and also brought it because it has a inner jacket which is very warm and can be warn out to a resturant etc when on a road trip but when it is hot to ride with can be stuffed in my givi bins.

Welcome to the 'verse' Jon.
Those lower panels are custom paint!!!!:thumb: makes me jealous of your 'vivid red' even though we all know 'evil green' is faster....:D

Me thinks I will be ordering some green paint to give my scooter the same treatment......Lookin' sharp there kid....
....Let the good times roll indeed.

PS....we like 'books', LOL.....information is a good thing and that (along with friendship) is what this sites all about.

be well,
ride safe.
:welcome: and :goodluck:

Congrats!

Leather is great, but in the South we generally can't wear it year 'round unless you like to boil. You may want to look into some textile gear, especially with summer coming. I have two sets: a Cortech jacket with a lining that is great in cold up to about 60 degrees (without lining and vents open), and a Teknic mesh jacket for summer. Both have elbow and shoulder armor and back pads. I got the Cortech new for $100 on Ebay, and the Tecknic for about $60 from Bike Bandit.

Also have Cortech jeans with knee armor and leather lining in the seat and hips, as well as mesh overpants with armor for riding to work. This summer I'll find a sale on winter overpants. Don't forget gloves and boots!

I believe you can't afford not to have protective gear.

Keep the shiny side up!

Kiwi 41..I dont know where your located, but here in Indiana we can go in and take the written portion of the motorcycle license test and if you pass you recieve a permit. It allows you to ride only in daylight, with a helmet at all times. You can hold it for 1 year before you must retake test to renew it.

I got up at 1 yesterday(still today for me.) drove to the license branch and passed. Drove home and had bike out before 2pm. Rode all day and even to work tonight. Yes I know I broke the law, but what a fun bike! So easy to get aquainted to. It took me so short a time to get used to the right foot break, the clutch engage point, and every thing else you pros forgot you had to learn. Kidding.
Over all it was a great day. If no rain in the forcast today Ill be gone riding.

Kiwi...just now noticed your location deal to right of your name. Sorry to hear your working nights to. lol. As far as the break, Im just new to it all I owuld suppose.

Went for a ride with my dad today. He has an 97 Goldwing SE. Hes one of the reasons I bought a bike to. Just time to spend with him. This is about the only hobby we both like enough to put up with. Hes a computer guy n Im in to Nitro Rcs..aside from being workaholics. Back to the ride. Couldnt have asked for a better day. Sunshine and fairly warm. Caught a good old curvy road towards Petersburg, and had a blast.
One thing I did notice, I dont trust my tires enough. Lol. I am still a little afraid to lean a good amount into corners. Sadly no videos yet, but soon. Tomorrow is supposed to be cruddy weather, so no riding for this noob. Oh here are some pics from yesterday.

Hey ranger-racer congradulations on your purchase, I agree with the advice on wearing the right gear, textile gear is A bit less pricey than leather and works great for me. Also being that you are new to riding and just got your permit I hope you consider taking A rider course you can learn some valuable things there, Enjoy and be safe.
