Just bought a NEW 2014 650 for $3000 under MSRP. Traded in my 2007 BMW F800ST. I'm 70 years old and retired. I've had about 35 bikes since 18 years old (includes about 30 years that I did no street riding - - but, rode off-road enduros). Recently sold 1970 Triumph Trophy 500 and Suzuki DRZ400S (used for adventure riding).

I am still considering trading in my 2007 V for a BMW 800 GT.

I am 60 years old, and looking for better wind protection, better suspension, and a little forward lean.

From your experience on the 800ST, would a 800 GT provide the changes that I am looking for?

Thanks.

Hard to say without riding them both - - and I haven't. I do know there are 'ergonomics' websites that can give you specs for stock seating positions on a wide variety of bikes. Also, from experience, all you need is $$$$$ to 'tweak' the ergos and wind protection on most any bike. For instance, on my BMW I had bar risers/pullbacks, Buell footpegs, and a larger/higher V-Stream windscreen.
