Hey all, just registered today. I've been eyeballing the versys and thinking that it looks like an interesting bike. I currently own a 2007 KLR650 and a 2008 Concours 1400 ABS. While I love both of these bikes and each has its pros and cons, I keep looking at the versys.

So I have a line on a brand new leftover 2009 for $4999. Are there any major changes between the 09 and 13 models? Are there any major issues with the versys that need immediate attention?

I'd really like to use the versys as an adventure touring bike...

Thanks,
Bryan

In 2010 they made some changes to the Versys. Cosmetic stuff, changed mirrors light rear light and a few other things. They also added rubber engine mounts to lessen vibration.

Sounds like a good deal and I think it would be a nice In between bike between the Connie and the KLR.

To make it a dual sport worthy machine you'll probably need a skid plate crash bars and a radiator guard and some knobbys. After that you can put a 19" wheel on the front but unless your trying to go where your KLR does I don't see it as necessary. Search for some JDrocks threads, he has some neat V offroad builds

Bryan - hope you can do better than $4999. I bought a left-over '09 in 2010 for LESS than that - $4859 (NO tax as I was taking it to Canada)....

I agree with fasteddie, if it is "new" four years on then get a really good price. I do not know what a good price is, but I would not go for $5000.

The difference is really just cosmetic. They changed the rear engine mount too and seat shape (less slope), but I have a 08 and have ridden newer ones and can't tell the difference from the saddle.
