I’m David, 38, from Portugal and I’m about to purchase a 2008 Versys 650.

Looking for some advice here.

Depending on price and mileage you should find it a very reliable and enjoyable machine. The most common issue people talk about seems to be the stator. I never had a problem with the stator on mine. I may have been lucky. Other than that the bike is almost indestructible. It's not too heavy, it handles and stops well, isn't expensive to own (although that's relative) and most of all it's fun to ride. Unfortunately, mine never understood a word of Portuguese.

My '08 has 92,xxx miles on it, and I LOVE it (as well as the '09 I HAD, and the '15 that I HAVE!).

For now all good. It’s a 2008 model with 78xxx km.

I’m struggling with the left mirror. Can’t see enough

Also find a little noise at the start of the bike so i think it could be the beginning of this thing:

Replacing the starter relay on my 2011 Gen 2.

After turning on the key and waited for the FI to prime up - at the press of the start button, a click was heard, lights dimmed but the engine isn't cranking. Been having this intermittently over the past 2 years or so, but easily resolved by turning the key to OFF and repeat the whole process...
