Hello all,

Quick intro as per the forum:

Got back into riding a few years ago (after finally getting 'legal' with a motorcycle license and everything!). I was originally looking for a standard bike like a Triumph Bonneville when I came across an 08 Versys on Craigslist. Couldn't pass up the price, and I've been very happy with my choice!

Longest rides so far from my home on Eastern Long Island have been to New Hampshire (ferry shortens that distance); and Pennsylvania the hard way (southern route through Fire Island, Rockaways, Brooklyn and Manhattan, back roads of Northern Jersey, returning with a side trip around Bear Mountain).

Awaiting the thaw,

Joe

Thanks to all for the welcome!

Maverick, both trips were in the neighborhood of 250 miles one-way, per Google. I don't know how many more miles I went on the PA trip, as I took every out of the way back road I could find. I can tell you I had to literally peel myself off the bike when I got home, between vibe-gnarled hands and a kevlar jeans abraded butt! I know, I'm not ready for the Iron Butt rally,...yet.

Not boasting just to show you it can be done I did the Aussie Hard Arse Challenge (1600 km in 48 hours) not as tough as the Iron Butt to be sure and have done an 8000 km trip and a 5000 km trip on the Versys comfortably. It takes time to get used to it and some setting up, my bike was fairly well modified. Higher screen, anti-vibration risers, lowered footpegs, lowered suspension, seat modified to suit me are just a few of the modifications I made.
Enjoy the Versys :grin2:
