Hello All, I'm ShadowsRyderV, I own a 2015 Versys 650LT & was recommended to come on here by StormRider for advice and discussion with other Versys owners.

I'm interested in doing a couple of mods to my bike. First and foremost, protection. I want some guards that will protect the majority of the bike, not just the top section and will give me a little more of an angle when trying to lift my bike when I drop it offroading. I couldn't seem to find anyone deal where both lower and upper protection was offered in one set by a reputable company, but I found some cheaper guards on Amazon from a company called "Tmsuschina" selling "Black Crash Bar Engine Guard Frame Protector for 2015-2016 Kawasaki Versys 650" (Can't send links because I'm new)

It seems a bike off-brand, but from the pictures I've found of it online from the users who have tried it, it looks like it will get the job done with offroading, though I wish it offered some protection to my lights? I was thinking I might be able to add some kind of indent to it at the bar beneath the turn signal lights. And besides, does brand matter that much? I figure what matters most is the specs, 1" Steel tubing, which is pretty much the same as any other bike guard such as Givi or SW-MT? I do want to turn it green to match the green on my bike; I was thinking spray painting it green and then polishing finishing it, and then waxing everything?

I also want to get some floodlights, which I would want to add to the upper engine guards I get. The company "TURBOSII" is selling "DOT 3X3" inch 16W Cube Pods Flood Offroad Driving Fog Lights" (Still can't send links because I'm new) which seem like they could work as floodlights for a bike.

What about some Handguards for my V. What do you think of Givi's handguards? Are they a good choice or is there a cheaper alternative that matches the quality?

Skid Plate would also be very nice, so far I've seen both the SW-MT and the Givi, both of which are severely over my price budget, I'd like to ideally spend:
$200 - Frame Guards
$100 - Skid Plate
$100 - Hand Guards

The only mod I've done so far is lowering my bike to match my 31' seam and I'm running TKC70 tires. Any other mods that you would recommend to make it more adventure/off-road friendly?

Thanks for the links! Those are exactly what I needed! So you think I'm good to go on the bars? Since they'll mostly deal with offroad low-speed falling, seems like the ideal choice for the price.

You don't like the OEM handguards on your '15? If not, I have put ZETA XCs onto my '08 and '09 V 650s, and low-sided the '08 at 20 to 30 mph going up Mt Graham, AZ, w/ VERY little damage (I broke a couple of ribs''...) to the bike, outside of some scratches on the ZETA's aluminum bar.

My V was bought used and didn't come with any guards. :(

So do you mean you are selling your guards, or are you recommending that one in particular? Those do look nice, I'll have to check them out.

Do you think it's worth changing the levers out to something a little shorter that would fit within the guards and not go under them?

Also, what about when you want to get maximum wind on the highway to keep your hands cool? How easy is it to take them off or move them?

The ZETA XC guards mount the plastic part from the FRONT w/ two screws, and it's easy to remove them for more cooling. I have also added 'shorty' levers to both my V 650s, and I LOVE them!
