According to Web-Cam, they supplied the camshafts for Bill Werner's 650 Kawasaki that won the Springfield Mile last year. This is the bike to study.

There's good stuff here at Blue Ridge Performance. They work with 650R Ninjas.

Buy another bike... it would be easier than what you are about to attempt...:p

its still cheaper in the long run to spend 1000$ on the engine just for insurance purposes. 68$ now a 600cc is 127$ thats double so since i already have a 2nd motor i am going to build it for this bike. plus i ride 30,000 miles per year and i don't like the riding position of the bigger bikes. Brp doesn't like me cuz when i was making more money i started talking about this and he didnt want me selling stuff on his forum. this time i wont say anything about selling just will give info on the build and leave the rest up to you guys. we are just going to use the same techniques that we used on the other bike builds we have done. we will see what happens.

If you can get 95 hp out of a Kawi 650 twin motor for $1k, I will kiss your ass...straight up....

You ride 30K a year, for real? :thumb:

The Versys is a great bike and provides great bang for the buck, but it is what it is. It provides ~80 to 90% of the performance of bikes like the KTM SMT, Ducati Multistrada, Triumph Tiger or a BMW GS at for much less money. But if money was not a factor none of us would buy the Versys.

For what it will cost to get 95HP out of the engine, and most likely with a significant and corresponding decrease in reliability, longevity and usability - why not just buy one of the aforementioned bikes.

perhaps it's the challenge to do it....and never under-estimate the 'fun' factor.

All the head work will only cost me 700 with cams. my porting guy does alot for us so he doesnt charge much. and my exhaust will only be around 300$. everything else i am doing by myself just like how i am just finishing up my 96 gsx eclipse right now.

and yes i do 29-30K per year!

is it impossible to bore this engine out? You could probably get to 710cc or maybe higher.

Wouldn't that be the fastest answer to your need for more HP?
That way all the small things you are doing would net an even higher increase in power.

nevermind, quick search provided this... http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7735

Sorry I have no tips or advice, but I wish you lots of fun with the project and keep us posted on the results.
After seeing a Smartuki (google it) I am curious to see a 95 hp Versys!

I'd like to see it......I don't see it happening with porting and some cylinder work only.....it will require a fair amount of exhaust, fuel delivery and mapping work to make it happen.

I'm not saying that it can't be done, but I don't think $1000 is enough cubic dollars to get there.

Oh, and we are talking naturally aspirated, right?

Same story different day.
And then some. He was told to essentially "shaddup" over at BRP just for being such a story teller (polite term for bull****ter). All sorts of stories, not too different than listening to my 10 year niece/nephew spin a good tale during the holidays about Santa.
