Don't think that this has been posted before. But who's got the most miles out of their original chain and sprockets?

I'll start with just over 20kmiles, but I know there are some out there with a lot more.

Also, what do you use to lube it? I use this stuff.

At 17000 miles,I just changed my front 15 t to a 16 tooth sprocket. The 15 still looks pretty good...and the chain dosn't appear to be "stretched" at all. At least its still tight on the back sprocket. so Im not changing the chain. My chain maintanence has been lubing every 1000-1500 miles, and I have adjusted the chain maybe 3-4 times..

Who needs a shaft drive?? Looks like a solution with out a problem.

Well taken care of chains seem to last about 20k and go down hill fast from there. At least thats how its been on my CBR, SVS and Ninja 250. The CBR as 22k on it and should be replaced.

Different bike, but I changed my KLR chain at 54,142 kms during my recent Alaska trip, and used only WD40 on it. I'd replaced the OEM front sprocket some time before that, and reversed it and the OEM rear once each.

My "V" chain has NOT been adjusted (8,150 miles, and ONLY WD40 on it too!) yet.

My .02$
Ed
