Mitas E-07 vs Mitas E-07+

Just thought I'd share this, cross-posting from AdvRider:
I'm contemplating a trip of about 1,000+ miles, next week, and whether my current rear tire will "go the distance." I'll be camping for a few days in the Monongahela National Forest, in West Virginia, near the Virginia border.
This is also to serve as a data point for a tire comparison, for what it's worth. I do have a brand-new Mitas E-07, (non-Dakar), in the garage, but I think I'll try to get the most out of the tire that's on the bike right now.
The next big trip will be to Colorado, if everything goes right, and I'd like to start that trip on fresh tires.

Here is the Mitas E-07, on the left, and the current Mitas E-07+ on the bike. Neither tire is the "Dakar" version.
The E-07 has a bit over 7,000 miles on it, while the E-07+ has over 10,000 miles on it. Based on this amount of longevity vs wear, I feel safe taking the Versys for another 1,000 miles or so.

That is fantastic to have the E-07+ still that fresh with 10,000 miles on it. I would leave it on for the 1,000 mile trip you have planned. One question - the E-07 looks small next to the E-07+ tire so, are they both 130/80-17?

Yea I noticed that, too. I think it's the fact that the phone has such a wide lens and it's just the camera angle. That, and maybe also that the one is not mounted on a wheel. They're both stock size (130/80-17), for our bike.

Edit: I looked these tires up just now, and it seems like, depending on retailer, they are "out of stock," this time of year.
Well, for the "big bike" sizes, that is. (GS, V-Strom, etc.) I guess we're fortunate to require only the smaller size for our bikes, because not only are they in stock, they're cheaper, too. Win-win! ☺
