Have now had my blue '09 for about 2 months and I am totally and completly hooked. The only time I even look at my truck anymore is when I get sent out of town for work.

The one thing about being out of town for work for weeks at a time is I have endless time to look for upgrades and addons, which I guess can be a good or bad. :) Good for the bike, bad for the wallet.

Ebay has been my friend while hunting down addons. So far I've picked up..

Evo Tech Rad Guard
MRA Vario screen with spoiler (for $20 :thumb:)
Nelson Rig saddlebags (Christmas Present)
Chuck's Soft luggage custom supports (from the forums)

I also picked up a low gel seat off ebay for $40 that I mainly bought for the seat pan for an eventual Baldwin seat upgrade. I may see what I can do about transplanting some of the low seats padding onto the stock seat when I get bored.

The one thing that I didn't really plan on when buying the bike was the cost of gear. Helmet, jacket, boots start to add up. Unfortunatly I payed some stupid tax on the first helmet when I bought one that was too large.

On the to do list. Crash bars, handguards, mirror extendors, tires etc.

Attached a pic my wife took while I was out enjoying my new love. Hopefully she doesn't start to get jealous.

just be very very carefull how you play that game matey bikes have feelings....

so treat her right, take her out frequently and unexpectedly. take her out to the right places to dine out, keep some cash left over to buy 'that' killer pair of boots.
or a quick translation I read that as
find the right gas station,
find any excuse to go riding on the style of roads you enjoy
keep her in the style of boots she's used to (PR2's, Roadsmarts, 023's)

The bikes are great, eh?

Gear is expensive. My first helmet wasn't so good either but it fits my wife so that was a bonus. Now if I could just get her to go for a ride. :)

I've been shopping for a pair of boots and everything I like is $300. Ouch.
Three brands you don't find on the big retailers are aerostich, vendramini, and falco. All three have some really nice touring boots.

Fill in your location and details so we know where you're comin' from. :D

Sidi Strada Rain
Yeah, not a bad looking boot. Sold out in 11/45. Good price though. I would love to find something in the $200 range. Under would be even better. And I was thinking of more of a touring boot, lug sole, waterproof.

The aerostich combat lites are an interesting boot, I like'em a lot. $300. Same for the Sidi canyon, roads, and discovery rains. All about $300. So is the vendramini marathon. A couple of the falco cross boots are in the low 2's. May end up trying a pair. I like that italian stuff. ;)

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I've got 2 pair of the waterproof Frank Thomas boots that CycleGear has for sale at $79.97. They're comfie and warm, and withstood the one rainy day I've used them in. :thumb: Here's a link:

Hello!
Your blue V is a very nice bike, so i can understand your feelings :)!
I want to send you a photo of my Versys 2008 I took last summer in the Eifel (Germany, borderline Belgium) near Spa-Francorchamps.
Now there is no chance for riding because of snow and ice never seen before in the last 30 years.
I wish everybody a HAPPY NEW YEAR! :eek:penarms:
Good luck from the West of Germany

I have been pondering a set of these: http://www.revzilla.com/product/alpinestars-scout-wp-boots.

I really want the Sidi Adventure Rains but I cannot find anywhere to actually try them on whereas I have found the Alpinestars. I have wide-ish feet and have read that Sidi runs narrow and Alpinestars tend to be better for wider feet. And the Alpinestar Scouts are ~$100 cheaper than the Sidis.

I was in the same boat as you a while back Kimel. I wanted to actually try on some boots before I buy them. Unfortunatley no place has them, so what you can do is buy them online and then return them if they aren't a good fit for you. I think multipe stores do this, but what you can do is buy a couple of things from them, try it all on, and whatever you don't like you just ship back. Just a thought...and if you already thought of it...my bad. :)

I really wanted sidi's too. Moto Liberty had them in stock, so I tried them on. Well I should say I tried to put them on, but they were too narrow. My feet were too wide. I bought a pair of Alpinestars instead and couldn't be happier! Excellent boot, comfy, great fit!

Here ya go...

Thanks Bear. Yeah, I still haven't bought myself a Christmas present (might as well get SOMETHING I wanted...right?) so I am close to pulling the trigger on a pair of the Scouts. They didn't have exactly my size so had to go up a size when I tried them on. Other than too much room they felt great. Going to call the "local" shop when they open and see if they have my size in stock yet. Need something to do today. Temps in the single digits. Yuck.

I just ordered a pair of these from Rider's Discount, who is a forum sponsor. EDIT: By "these" I mean the Alpinestars Scout WP Boots.

The price was very good. (hint, hint)
