I finally broke down and ordered Speedys lowering kit and flat foot....I just can't stand stopping the bike and being on the balls of my feet. I really was hesitant to make this mod as I fear the bike will just handle different...Even using the Kawi Gel seat the darn bikes to tall for me...

Since there are so many good reviews of the product I decided to take the plunge. Hope it arrives by the weekend....can't wait to test it out!

I love mine. It makes the difference between feeling secure when coming to a stop of praying that you can reach the ground and there is no gravel there. That's the first mod I ever did to the machine. By, the way, I have a 28" inseam.

The lowering kit was the best mod I've made to my bike so far. Don't forget to lower the front end. It will feel like a new bike. I like the flat foot so much, I'm going to put the micrometer on my KLR250 kickstand and if it will work, I'll get another flatfoot for that bike.

The defining moment was the other day pulling into my driveway which is gravel I was going very slow..there is a dip between the driveway and the road, so I told my wife to get out of the way....;)...anyway the bike started to tip a bit and I needed to put my foot down well because I was straddling the dip... lol no really...I couldn't reach the ground so the bike tipped farther and I did catch it but had to put a lot of muscle into stabilizing the bike....the result a nasty charlie horse in my leg...thank goodness I was home...

(Sorry dear!:sorry:)

IMO lowering the bike is safer and it handles a little crisper. I rode it lowered 2 years with no issues.

I also lowered the pegs and added 2 "" additional rise to the handlebars.

I am 5' 8" and lowered the bike within the first 3 weeks of ownership. No regrets, None.

If you even think there will be a chance you wont like it, lower the bike (don't cut the kickstand yet). Hop on the bike and check it out. Once you realize and confirm that you should have done this long ago, smile and then cut the kickstand and install the flatfoot. BTW, the flatfoot is a great mod in itself!

:goodluck: and enjoy!

I had no problem flat footing the V but I was tired of throwing my leg over it. Sort of like doing a high jump. No off roading for me so the lowering kit is the ticket. You're right, the bike WILL handle differently...better.

Question??? How many lowered the front as well?? seems logical to do this to keep the geometry the same...

I lowered the front also. It's recommended in Speedy's directions. I just lowered one side at a time, a little at a time. Lower to the top of the machined part of the fork, is what the directions say, I believe. It's a big improvement on the bike. You will like it.

All done and test rode it....I don't notice a lot of difference in the handling but it does feel lower. Front suspension feels stiffer than before.

I do feel like I have waay more control when coming to stop...feet firmly down no feeling of tipping over.
Overall I'm happy...it does look physically shorter which I don't like but I'll live with it..
