Whatever, dude. Wear what you want (or don't want), I couldn't care less.Dude, your gear is not going to prevent broken bones. You say you wear ATGATT, but you don't really.
Has nothing to do with what I wear or not wear. It has to do with what you think gear will do or not do for you. Hope you never have to find out.Whatever, dude. Wear what you want (or don't want), I couldn't care less.
You have me beat in years. I've only ridden a little over 350,000 miles.I have found that out and I know what my gear can do. I won't bore you with the details. And thanks for the advice, I've only been riding for 58 years.
Not just my opinion. The opinion of every moto journalist I have seen or read. 17" front wheels, belly exhaust, not a lot of suspension travel, etc. This thread went off the rails real quick, but even then it started off with a little good-old-fashioned gatekeeping. "I can finally accept the V650 and V1000 as adventure bikes" implying the OP thought prior to seeing the video linked in the OP that the V650 and V1000 "aren't REAL adventure bikes" in their opinion. Now it's a pissing contest about whether ATGATT is valid or not...
Oh well.
As I once said in a song I wrote about riding motorcycles, "Don't forget to wear your helmets"

Obviously, it's not a dirt bike, the Versys 650 to me just seems like a lifted Ninja. It's a killer bike, carves canyons great and goes down a gravel road far better than my previous Kawasaki Vulcan 750 (a midweight cruiser). IDK what the point of this whole thread was, to be honest.Obviously there are much better bikes for off-road riding than the Kawasakis or the bike in the video.
No point. Just a fun video of guys using a bike in a way the manufacturer never intended.Obviously, it's not a dirt bike, the Versys 650 to me just seems like a lifted Ninja. You're right, I'll relaxNo point. Just a fun video of guys using a bike in a way the manufacturer never intended.
It wasn't like they were doing wheelies through traffic.
I've only been riding for 11 years, but I recently picked up a self inflating suit that I am positive will protect me in any crash I might happen to have. You have me beat in years. I've only ridden a little over 350,000 miles.
I hope that's not one of those blow up sex dolls that I've heard about. That would turn me off.I've only been riding for 11 years, but I recently picked up a self inflating suit that I am positive will protect me in any crash I might happen to have.

It's great that you prioritize safety by wearing gloves while riding and when appropriate. However, it's important to respect your dad's personal preferences, even if they seem excessive to you and your brother. Everyone has their own habits and quirks, and as long as they're not harming anyone, it's best to let people be themselves.I wear gloves when appropriate, which means anytime I ride and the other times I should. My dad takes this to a whole new level. My brother and I joke that he probably wears gloves to take a pee.
It’s a little presumptuous for you to tell me he’s worthy of respectit's important to respect your dad's personal preferences,
I laugh at all the tough guys with nothing but a pair of sunglasses when all of a sudden they get caught in a thunderstorm. I too clipped a bird with my head. It about broke my neck. Might have knocked me unconscious had I not had a helmet. In my teenage days I got hit in the shoulder by a grasshopper that left a welp that you could definitely tell it was a grasshopper. In my twenties, wearing a full face helmet, I took a glancing blow from a bird to the side of the helmet at 80 mph, thought it was gong to peel me off the bike, glad it wasn't straight on!
I believe there is one of the "TEN COMMANDMENTS" that says 'Honor thy father and thy mother', w/out saying "ONLY IF YOU RESPECT THEM"!It’s a little presumptuous for you to tell me he’s worthy of respect
That would require them to be honorable, which my mother was NOT, unless being physically abusive is honorable'Honor thy father and thy mother'
