I just joined up. From what I've read in the Forums so far, looks like a great bunch of people here.

I actually don't have a Versys yet; I currently have a KLR (as you can see from my signature line) but I went into my local Kawi dealer yesterday evening and there was a '09 Candy Lime Green Versys by the door just screaming my name. One look was all it took. I actually had considered the Versys when I bought the '08 KLR but at the time I thought I would be better served by the KLR. Don't get me wrong, the KLR is a good bike especially with the changes I've made (Sargent seat, bar risers, aluminum hand guards, Pelican top case, KLR hard side bags, SW-Motech engine guards, shimmed needle/w idle screw richening, muffler pea shooter removal and aluminum spout addition) but the first time I went for a ride to my weekend place in the woods 45 miles away I realized "I already have comparable bikes in the garage, the 2 DR350s".

I think one thing that really turned me on to the Versys this time is the new Candy Lime Green color. Man that just seems to fit the bike perfectly (but of course, that is MHO). This way I'll be kinda an odd fellow on a kinda odd looking bike with a kinda odd color:yeahsmile:

Welcome to the group and we're glad to have you! You'll fit right in with the rest of us "odd" fellows. If you are anywhere near the DFW area we have a loosely fit group that occasionally meets for breakfast and if you'd like to have you name on the list to be notified send me a pm with your name, email, phone and location. Now that the weather is getting nicer we'll be getting together more.

Take care
Don

Thanks for the welcome and the invite to breakfast. I'll be picking up the Versys this evening. As to the breakfast, I'd have to make it an overnight trip. Don't think I could get up early enough to ride up from Houston and still make coffee time. If I do make an overnighter, I'll be sure to give you a shout (electronically through the forum of course:))

No problem. I thought you might be somewhere around Tyler or something like that as you location is SE Texas. If you ever get in the area up here we'd love to buy you lunch and swap lies.
