Hey Everyone,
I have been attempting to post pics VIA drag and drop to the "drag files here to attach!" box but I get the error message that my pics are too big, the contain too much data. ???

I have been dragging and dropping from my desktop.
I searched over the site here and could not find the answer, although I am certain it is here somewhere.

Any help?

Thanks!

Picture problems

I use the little paper clip next to the smile face under the word message. Then I click browse. Then I click on picture from my computer. Then I click upload. Then it should post. Good luck. 29132668536_aac1fa7af3_o-20160823-155111763.jpg

Might be a size issue. There are limits to what you can upload based on picture type. I captured the attached from the Advanced Options menu. If the picture is too large, you can resize it (I use http://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/ ).

Strangely, the upload doesn't seem to like pictures in portait layout. It insists on using landscape for all of my attached pictures, which is annoying since it rotates them. If there's a way to turn that off, I'd probably use attachments more.

As it is, I prefer using Photobucket, although if I ever re-organize the site or close the account, the photos will stop appearing. But at least they appear inline.

Yup, that takes you to the Manage Attachments box. Let's see if that works any better for portrait pictures...nope.

I resize my pics to 800x600 @ 300 - all in pixels/inch, and I use PhotoBucket to 'host' them.

Both portrait and landscape
Thanks. Sometimes, I take too much for granted and assume it's the forum. It isn't the case here.

Hmmm...original picture below was taken from my phone.

The first one was rotated using Irfanview and saved. The second one was rotated using the built-in image viewer in Win10 and saved.

Mental note...rotating pictures in Win10's built in tools may not be properly updating everything.

Here is the answer I finally found, so I am replying to my own original post!
I have a Mac Book Pro, so after searching the the internet, I found out I can do it on my mac through the included software. It was right under my nose! Still and always learning many things in life.
Thanks for all the helpful replies.

I found out some years ago to NOT allow my camera to "automatically align" pics, as they would post 'sideways' as did yours. NOW I rotate them as necessary on my iMac, and then "save" them.
