Exactly 3 weeks ago I laid my Versys down on it's left side. I was taking a left handed downhill turn and my rear wheel caught gravel, the city had just cleaned all of the tar strips out of the street and hadn't done a great job cleaning up after itself, and the bike slide out and we both slide for about 3 ft.

I end up with 3 stitches in my leg, a punctured blood vessel thanks to the hole in my leg, and some nasty road rash. The bike had a lot of nasty road rash as well, the cowl, the handlebar end cap, the mirror, the rear grab bar, and the most difficult part to replace, the peg snapped off (most likely what caused the gash in my leg).

The next morning I had the bike taken to the dealer I purchased it from. After a few days and a visit from my insurance adjuster they the dealer said he would order parts and have my V back to me by the end of the week. That was 3 weeks ago and I still don't have a motorcycle in my garage. I called them to see how the progress was going and they said there was a part on backorder.

With this being a fairly new bike I don't see there being to many parts and backorder for over two weeks (unless a ton of people are laying their bikes down and not sharing the stories). The rough part is that since I have dealt with the dealer a few times before I had my insurance issue him the check already thinking it would only speed up the repair process. Is there any action I can take? Is there anyway to call a parts supplier and have them check to see if there are truly parts on backorder?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

I hope you get well soon!

I know how you feel... My bike fell on it's left side a while back and had similar damage. My peg/shifter broke off too.

This bike definitely needs some crash bars...

It took the dealer about a week to get the parts, and another week to get everything fixed. In general, anything seems to take "about a week". Maybe it's just how Colorado works. ;)

I guess that's where I sit. I have been waiting three weeks and originally it was said to be a week. I know that a part on back order is a part on back order, but could I call a company, like say, Bike Bandit and see if they know of any parts on back order? Can they check that for me?
