Hi there.

Just bought a brand new 2010 Versys last week in southeastern CT. The bike is apparently in short supply, according to the salesman, and they had to pick it up in Mass.

This is my 1st motorcycle. Since I am 6'2" with 35" inseam, I was looking for a tall bike (V-Strom, KLR, etc), and finally settled for the Versys. It's the fun factor that did it, and god knows we need this in "zzzzzzzzzzzz" connecticut.

The first couple of ride I took were a blast. Even though it's my first bike, I feel that I have been riding all my life on this machine: easy to control, well balanced, smooth transmission. The only drawback is definitely the seat. I am not sure if it's due to my height or if this is just a recurring problem with this model (I have red zillions of other complaining about it), but I am going to get this fixed shortly. I know that many other had the peg lowering kit installed and even though I will probably do it too, it did not really felt as big of an issue, even at 6'2", compared to the very uncomfortable seat. I will look into having a custom seat made, because the Corbin one (the only alternative), looks horrible, in my opinion.

One Q for the experienced riders out there: What about the break in period?

The manual says not to go above 4K RPM for the first 500 miles, and not above 6K for the next 500. What's the opinion about a good break in period?

Thanks!

I broke in my brand new '10 similar to Motoman's technique. Just don't lug the engine or let it overheat. Being water cooled, that shouldn't be a problem. I rode it on a 300 mile pie run 3 days after buying it. 150 miles each way. I kept it mostly at around 65MPH but varied my speed faster and slower in short bursts and with 900+ miles so far, this IS my favorite bike. :D I also took it to my dealer for it's first service right at 600 miles. Once I add a few farkles, it will be perfect!

Thanks for the input.

Weljo: Thanks for the pics and link! Somehow this company escaped my numerous google search.
I will contact them to see if they can provide one for the 2010.
